LIMA, Peru (AP) -- The lone suspect in the disappearance of U.S. teen Natalee Holloway was paraded - moist-eyed and looking stunned - before reporters on Saturday as Peruvians denounced him and detectives began interrogating him about the murder of a Lima student.
Joran van der Sloot arrived at criminal police headquarters in a brown Interpol SUV and was escorted across an auditorium of shouting, shutter-snapping journalists three times.

“...better off killing a woman in Afghanistan.”
Unless you are an American service member.
Peru has no extradition treaty with the Netherlends.
I believe that Joran is toast.
Dont worry Joran, they say it only hurts the first time.
“I heard on TV the other night that his parents were afraid of him”
Yes. I heard that also on TV.
Joran, can you squeal like a pig?
I bet they have Napoleonic Law in Peru — guilty until proven innocent.
It was a great speech, and I didn't do it justice.
That’s why good fathers are so important. A mother can and should do the disciplining if she’s the only one in the picture. There’s no substitute, though, for a firm, loving, consistent father being in charge of discipline. In that sense, the black community is screwed—thank you libs.
In Joran’s case, who knows what was up. I’ve seen posted that his father was photographed sitting next to Natalie Holloway in the bar on the very night she would later be killed. If that’s true, what kind of weirdness does it portend?
Rent Midnight Express - its heaven on earht compared to Peruvian prisons ...
“In every country of the world except the United States you are guilty until proven Innocent!! “
Actually, innocent until proven guilty is English common law, which is used pretty much everywhere that used to be part of the British Empire, including the US.
Roman law and Napolionic law is guilty until proven innocent, and this is used is most of continental Europe and Latin America.
Think there are some non English-speaking countries that also use innocent until proven guilty.
Good clarification.
I’m so glad the FBI didn’t bring VanderSloot to the US to be prosecuted.
(But very sorry that another young woman had to pay the ultimate price.)
