MESA, Ariz. (AP) Once bitter rivals for the presidency, Mitt Romney and John McCain campaigned together as friends on Friday, one gearing up for a likely presidential bid and the other fighting to hold onto his seat in the U.S. Senate.
The two Republicans fielded questions from a largely supportive audience of several hundred people, touching on issues including immigration and the environment while heaping criticism on President Barack Obama.
Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, battled with McCain in 2008 for the Republican nomination for president, then aggressively campaigned for McCain in the general election. He has endorsed the Arizona senator in his current re-election bid.
(snip)
Romney said McCain's clout after 28 years in Congress is important in fighting the Obama administration.
"He's a Washington heavyweight," Romney said of McCain. "He knows how to push back against the Obama machine."
(snip)
McCain opened the town hall meeting with a nod to their "spirited campaign," but suggested Romney was gracious in defeat.
"After that primary was completed, there was no one person who worked harder on behalf of our ticket and the things that we believe in than Mitt Romney," McCain said.

Yeah, and over the years he's developed the ingenious tactic fighting the Democrats by supporting their liberal agenda while simultanously attacking conservatives. Very clever, this one. Liberals and the media love him. That's all I need to know.

    Hee hee.
The Giuliani bug-zapper thread was (and still is) legendary.
But... Jim Rob would NEVER orchestrate a move to send Palinista’s to the cornfield. Right?

Romney said McCain's clout after 28 years in Congress is important in fighting the Obama administration.,p> Unfortunately, Juan is in agreement with Obama on two of the most important and transformative (would royally screw up the nation) legislative initiatives to be considered soon: amnesty for illegals and cap a trade.
Anyone who believes Juan's election year amnesia and conversion to being tough on the border is, well... just the sort of gullible know-nothing the politicians love.

I’ve come to the conclusion that keeping the likes of these guys around is useful to remind us of what we are NOT. It’s nice of Romney to wait on deck to take over as McCain gets ready to swing his third strike. Meanwhile Pete Wilson has resurfaced in the gubernatorial campaign in California. Thanks for the reminder of who we are NOT, gentlemen.

He won't have to. They're going to do it for him.

"He's a Washington heavyweight," Romney said of McCain. "He knows how to push back against the Obama machine." Sure Mitt, that's why all of Arizona's problems have been solved. Up until this elections McCain would have been hard pressed to find Arizona on a map.

The RINOs are scared to death right now...they see their decades of control slipping away so they are banding together against the citizens..or should I say those of us the see as the proletariat.
They may discover that it will lead to this for them...

McCain may know HOW to puch back against Democrats & NObama, but he just does NOT do such.
He seems to have his own particular type of Stockholm Syndrome.
Both of these guys are in the box marked “too little-—too late”.
I wouldn’t vote for either one of them to ever have national office again.
