UPDATED: 9:04 pm EDT June 3, 2010

KOKOMO, Ind. -- A 9-year-old Howard County girl critically injured by a pit bull over the weekend died at an Indianapolis hospital on Thursday, police said.

The attack happened in the 4600 block of East County Road 200 South on Saturday, said Howard County Sheriff Marty Talbert.

The girl, Savannah Gragg, underwent surgery at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, but died Thursday afternoon.

Police said that Savannah was opening a door at the home to let the dog outside when it jumped on her and knocked her to the floor, biting her on the neck and shaking her violently.

"The child suffered a lacerated trachea, which resulted in a lack of oxygen to the brain," Talbert said in a news release Thursday evening. "Doctors determined the child was brain dead shortly after 3:30 p.m. Thursday."

Family members told police that the dog had never shown aggression before.

Whatever. I’m raising these dogs, I know the health risks as does our vet. And my dogs have never and will never kill a child.

Thank you. I'll take that as a non-answer yes.

And I consider anyone fostering the continuation of the suffering of these poor dogs as being complicit in their misery.

You “know the risks” yet still breed them.

How is that different from “knowing the risks” of a pit bull?

Misery is misery, be it human or animal.

[and the Brachycephalia likely comes from an ancient Mastiff type dog “bred down”...same as pits.]

You would because you're utterly incapable of comprehending anything ~not~ monosyllabic.

Go enjoy Chet and Morter’s guttural grunts, instead.

“How is that different from “knowing the risks” of a pit bull?”

How are the risks of owning a Pug versus owning a land shark different? Well for one thing, my Pugs have never and will never KILL A CHILD.

No, the dog did not survive. He brought home the piece of meat that poisoned him and it was riddled with Drain-O.

Nothing could be proved but there is no doubt. The dog was a little quiet wiener type dog, never barked. Rural. Big yards no fences, all the neighbors dogs socialized as much as the neighbors did. Just put that out there to say it was not a vicious dog situation.

The only revenge I could get was when it came time to burn leaves in the fall. Always made sure to light the pile on one of those nice fall days when windows are open and the wind was blowing in his direction.

Waited till he went to the store with his house windows open. Then lit the pile of leaves and filled his house with smoke while he was away.

Oh, no......:-(

I really am truly, ~very~ sorry for your loss.

God knows when every sparrow falls.

I’m sure He’ll take your little dog into account...and the maggot who murdered him.

I’ve tried to be civil but you chose another path. Very telling.

You do not know what my stance on pits might be by my treading on to a thread about the minefield of pit ownership.

You seem to be the one with the comprehension problem and miss my whole point. If a poster cannot be civil in a disagreement, but resorts to the tactics you and the sycophants employ, you’ll get called on it. That’s all.

Right or wrong, people are entitled to their opinions. You are intellectually dishonest if you don’t acknowledge that. And all squirreled up with emotion. Insightful wins converts. Inciting is your game plan.

Meh.

Have a great weekend! Want anything from Maine? Lobsters are only $4.99lb

Which genetic defect is causing all this “oh-so-funny, cute and adorable snoring”?

What organism is causing those “charming pimples” on its chin?

*Why* are they forming?

You asked for it.

The real crime is that most of these people have no idea how much distress their own dog is in.

You sir, are in public denial of what you -know- to be true.

[”I’m aware of the risks”, etc etc etc]

That you would attempt to make light of it beyond egregious.

[but you make a *lot* of money in your back yard, don’t you?]

Oh, and you’re delusional, as well?

Civility and you are complete strangers.

Your first very post to me was to intended to insult me.

You are a liar.

And you have yet to even attempt to refute that at NO TIME has or will a Pug ever attack and kill a child.

Ahhh...but that’s *not* my issue with ~you~, backyard Pug breeder.

[so...how many litters per year? 3? 5? More?]

Nope. One litter per year is more than enough. My female had a litter in March, we’ll breed her again in the summer of ‘11 and then probably get her fixed.

When all is said and done, we’ll have the two adults remaining plus one very gigantic (English Mastiff) guard dog. Pugs aren’t much good for that sort of work.

This took me 10 seconds...but alas, it’s only a GROIN attack.

Shall I keep looking or are you familiar with Google, too?

[or should I just mention the dirty little “dentition secrets” about Pugs and why they really can’t do a *whole* lot of damage because of genetically defective teeth?]
