Joran van der Sloot intended to surrender but was arrested before he was able to, according to his Dutch lawyer. Van der Sloot will spend all week at criminal police headquarters in Lima being questioned in the death of a 21-year-old Lima woman and has asked to be able to hire his own lawyer in Peru, authorities said Sunday.
The Dutchman, who is also the prime suspect in Alabama teen Natalee Holloway's 2005 disappearance in Aruba, is being held in a seventh-floor cell with a bunk bed and blanket and gets three hot meals a day, said Maj. Jose Gamboa, spokesman for the Peruvian national police. Van der Sloot is suspected in the May 30 killing - five years to the day after Holloway's disappearance - of Stephany Flores, a business student police say he met playing poker at a casino. Van der Sloot crossed into Chile last Monday, where he was arrested three days later.
But, reports CBS News Correspondent Jeff Glor , van der Sloot's lawyer in Holland contends van der Sloot was going to surrender.
Bert de Rooij told CBS News , "Just before he got arrested he e-mailed me that he would give himself in in the police station of Santiago, Chile, just before this he was arrested......"
In post no. 721, I just posted a snippet from a new article which states that his Dutch lawyer is named Bert de Rooij.

Police in the Netherlands have raided the home of freelance reporter Jaap Amesz, who claims to possess detailed knowledge about Joran van der Sloot's criminal activities.
Mr Amesz, also known by his nickname Terror Jaap, earlier this year interviewed murder suspect Van der Sloot, having hooked him up to a lie detector.
Gelderland police have confirmed that the raid was carried out at the request of US Justice authorities, who are investigating extortion charges brought against Joran van der Sloot by relatives of Natalee Holloway.
Data confiscated
Police officers took computers, mobile phones and other data carriers from the reporter's home.......
“I presume that if one goes to Anita van der Sloots FACEBOOK page..”
There is none.

Thank you! :)
LIMA, June 7 (UPI) -- Security surrounding Dutch homicide suspect Joran van der Sloot tightened after prison guards learned of a possible suicide attempt, Peruvian officials said.
....Criminal lawyer Julio Rodriguez said van der Sloot could face between 35 years to life in prison if convicted of Ramirez's death."
I guess they've been following her for quite some time now. There are a couple references to her taking "jabs at Natalee" and posting about actor Richard Gere, but I don't know if this is accurate or not.
Yes..looks like it might be her listed as “Anita Hugen.
One picture with an older woman, and no other info available except that Anita has one friend:

Beth Holloway co-founded the Natalee Holloway Resource Center. It opens Tuesday in Washington, D.C. The Natalee Holloway Resource Center opens Tuesday night in Washington, D.C., where families of missing persons can get help managing their crisis, and high school and college students can get advice for traveling safely.
Named for the Mountain Brook teenager who disappeared five years ago on a class trip to Aruba, the nonprofit center at the National Museum of Crime and Punishment was co-founded by Natalee's mother, Beth Holloway.
The center's opening comes just as Holloway's case has returned to the international spotlight with the arrest of Joran van der Sloot in the death of a woman in Peru. He was the main suspect in Holloway's case, and was charged by federal prosecutors in Birmingham last week with trying to extort $250,000 from someone in exchange for information about what happened to the girl.
Beth Holloway partnered with museum officials after they added Natalee's case to the unsolved section of the museum last year, said Janine Vaccarello, chief operating officer of the museum and co-founder of the Holloway center.
"Beth made a list of what she went through when Natalee was first reported missing and most of the things had to do with her not having resources," Vaccarello said. "It was about her not knowing what to do next."

How much do you wanna bet that info disappears from her facebook page? She has to be in a tizzy! lol
I have only read page 17-25 of the “no crime” online book she wrote. I can’t believe she went so far as to post the photos of the Mountain Brook kids! Did you see them?
A spokesperson in Peru stated that Anita had spoken with her son, but that they had NO idea if Anita planned to come to Lima to see him in person.
I am unsure where they originated, but obviously one of the MB kids at some point had put the photographs online.
I presume that you are referring to a set of photographs of drunken partying teens, right??? They've been out there, online, for years.
I think my father who is not Hispanic would have hunted Joran down and killed him himself. Dad didn’t take well to criminals and especially any that would harm any member of his family or his friends...especially his daughter.
Ping!
I’ve been reading http://noevidenceofacrime.com
Wait till you see what she has to say about Natalee and the Mountain Brook kids. Drags them thru the mud!
