Gary Coleman's wife Shannon Price may not have had authority to 'pull plug' on star's life support

Four days after Gary Coleman's wife, Shannon Price, opted to remove the actor from life support, a report has surfaced suggesting she didn't have the right to make that call.

"Some people have raised the issue that they saw Gary and Shannon on 'Divorce Court,'" Coleman's attorney, Randy Kester, told UsMagazine.com, "and now there's some questions about whether or not they were married at the time of the death and whether [Shannon] had the authority to pull the plug at the hospital."

The couple, who quietly wed in 2007, appeared on the Fox court show in 2008. In February, Coleman pleaded guilty to misdemeanor mischief following an April 2009 domestic dispute with Price.

"Some people in the public are raising issues whether she had authority to do that and if she has authority to be making funeral arrangements, and exactly where she fits into his estate," Kester added. "I think there's going to be some developing controversy about some issues of authority."

Documents clarifying Price's authority have yet to be found.

"Everyone is out there searching for a will," said Kester, "and I haven't seen one yet."

Coleman, the troubled child star best known for his role on the hit sitcom "Diff'rent Strokes," died last Friday from a brain hemorrhage caused by an accident at his Utah home. He was 42.

Price, 24, has not responded directly to the controversy. She wrote in a statement that she was "very grateful for all the wonderful support [from fans]... This is so comforting to the family to know how beloved he still is."

According to Us, the actor's funeral will be held Friday or Saturday in the Salt Lake City area.

He was a working actor until he was 42. May not have been on hit tv shows, but between VH1 shows and personal appearances he made six figures easy. Probably more. He’s done voiceover work too.

I thought he was working as a Mall Security Guard, I remeber something about him "Assaulting" a customer.

The good thing regarding the upcoming death of 2/3rds of the planet's oceans, the complete collapse of the planetary fiat currency economies, 70% loss of food production and distribution capability, and the inevitable nuclear war in the mideast, is that stories like this will stop being published.

Any answers as to why he had this supposed fall in his home? Interesting that the wife was there at the time of the fall and got to pull the plug.

He got sued once: He was doing the guard thing at the mall and got recognized. Some black chick kept begging him to say, “Whatchyuu talkin’ ‘bout, Willis..!?”

He was tooootally sick of it, and had been for years.

She wouldn’t quit, and he finally lost it and punched her in the face.

I wasn’t there but my guess is that she deserved it.

Wow, nice grammar. Sorry to get you so worked up over Gary freakin Coleman.

Does look like he had a lot of acting jobs, though:

Rest in peace Gary Coleman.

Let the rest of the world fight or discuss your life but...you are the only one who lived it and who would know the truth.

At 42 it’s entirely possible he has no will. Lots of people in their 40’s haven’t made one yet. It’s just something that many people don’t think about until they get into their 50’s or 60’s, especially if their estate situation isn’t complicated.
