Life is too short and the politics of the day too, too important to waste time with those that will NOT see.
I had a friend that was liberal...I have a sister that I have found out is a socialist. (she won’t admit it——she’s been “Harvardized”).
When bills, employment and the state of the country is so depressed, the LAST thing I need is a debate on the obvious-—this “man-child” HATES America and hates me. I’ve better things to do with my time than spend it debating with those that are stupid and blind.
That is a very unemotional, flavorless, colorless, insipid, boring and bland way to see things.
The President is a personal issue. Even if he/she doesn’t know. Decisions they make will effect my family for decades to come.

Usually, by the time folks realize that us . . . folks who tend to see much further ahead than the average bear . . .

I’m happy to forgive and go on. That’s not the issue.
The issue is I hate to see them suffer needlessly.
Of course, some don’t even have the courage, maturity or humility to say they goofed and are sorry for being so stupid.
Which usually means they’ll be stupid and clueless and suffer accordingly many more times . . . before they wake up—if that’s even possible.
The same thing has happened to me.
People hate Sarah Palin because she is Christian and prolife. Did your former friends know that you were Christian and prolife or did you conceal that?
The few liberals I know were mistreated as children, and hypocrisy and projection are ingrained defense mechanisms for them. They’re prone to extremely self-centric behavior. It’s easy to let government become your God when “Me” and “Now” are the most important things to you.
What is known as “situational ethics” or moral relativism” is the only way they can cope. They cannot deny they liked Bush’s tax rebate or Reagan’s military pay increase, but they still put those presidents down.
Their liberal ideology always trumps absolute truth for them when it suits them. All I can do is pray sometimes.
I’ve had that come up before myself. I’m willing to accept them spouting off about Sarah Palin when they show me some evidence of her doing or saying something that can top “57 states,” “my Muslim faith,” or “stand up, Charlie!” Hasn’t happened yet.

People hate palin because so many people like her. If she was a nobody, no one would care if you supported her or not.
Anyone who threatens to take power from libs is either stupid or evil. Both Bushs, Reagan,Clarence Thomas, Dan Quayle, - all stupid. Nixon, Cheney, - all evil. Only libs are smart - like BHO. You will find that what libs find “stupid” in these people applies equally to you. My wife and I have reached that realization, and we both have doctoral degrees.
Ask you “friends” if there are ANY smart, honest conservatives who are currently in politics. Are there any they admire or respect? If they can think of anyone, it’s someone who poses no threat. The obsession they have with Palin is just a show of fear.
It make these people very hard to be around, to say the least.
they always come back if they are your true friends. They won’t come back as close as they were before the split, but they will come back.
Lucky for me my life long friends are all conservative or apolitical. And for me I don’t run into too many libs at the gun shop where I spend some of my free time.

One friend hasn't responded to my emails in months, after I responded to his implied call for more gun control and state-run ("free") mental health care in the wake of the Fort Hood shooting. Might be an ex-friend by now. I guess I'll find out when I call him this coming weekend.
I wouldn't say I lost them as they are still there. But there are some who I refuse to have any more to do with. These so-called 'conservative' friends could not bear to hear me say anything bad about the liberal George W. Bush. They are the George W. Bush fan club, something I wanted no part of.
No, that is a realistic and accurate description of reality in america.
