Salinas, Calif. (AP) -- The Monterey County Sheriff's Office says authorities are on the lookout for a man posing as a law enforcement officer who pulled over an off-duty sheriff's deputy.
. . .The deputy identified himself and showed that he was armed. The man turned and fled in his vehicle, a white Mercedes.

he let him slip away, ...
If a white MB tries to stop me I will remember to keep going.
Yeah, was he to loaded to follow the fake copper??!!
So I guess the real Sheriff was too drunk to stop the Fake one?? Something is not right with this story.
Don't stop for any unmarked car. Drive the speed limit and dial 911. Explain there is an unmarked car following you and you have concerns it is not a real officer, you are worried for your safety. Ask them to confirm.
Or the white Mercedes was a 500.
He’s looking for that home and I hope he finds it.
Yeah, that’s the first thing I thought. I’m guessing something else happened were not hearing about. This off duty cop did something or lost something and he needs a cover story.
There is no other plausible excuse for the real cop not immediately arresting him or chasing him or slamming into his car thereby disabling it. WE WANT DRUG AND ALCOHOL SCREENING TESTS FROM THE INCIDENT, oh, you mean you didn’t take one, Charge him anyway and fire him for incompetence.
We need to change the law. Anyone posing as a police officer, saying they are a police officer, and attempting to utilize the authority of a police officer, should be subject to immediate execution by whomever witnesses the act.
