Which new Rifle to buy? (vanity)
05.27.10 | Myself

OK,, I have a pretty good selection of firearms, Ak47's, Bolt guns, .22's, 30-30's, shotguns, several good pistols and a gun safe. (ammo for all) But I don't have a AK74. Are there known reliable models out of the box?(the ammo is pretty cheap now)I've even heard of some of the cheaper models key-holing.

I have been told that Century builds are hit/miss, and Saiga's have that funny trigger. For under $600 bucks,, (no I don't want an AR) what model AK74 is available?

(PS,, I love AR's, but I have been told that as long as you have an Armorer, go with the AR,, if you don't,,, go with the AK)

5.45X 39

As I mentioned, ammo is cheap now, and I don't have one,,, that is the reason I want one.

The one gun I really want is a SA Socom2 .308 rifle.

Yep,, nice weapon,,, but my Remington 700/Leupold scope in .308 is unbelievably accurate. Its my "deer" gun.

All of my friends with AR based weapons have far more trouble with them than those with AR based weapons.

Eh?

Good Info,, had two Garands, sold them,, rifle and ammo heavy. Nice rifle's,,but my old eyes can't utilize the really great sights on these rifles, I want a 5.45x39.

That one is sweet, but it’s kinda heavy. The Scout Squad is a good one too, and a bit lighter.

Not that you could go wrong with either one.

The Daowoo DR-200 is an exception

but it has an AK action.

Ya, I considered a Dawoo,,, but its only available in .223,,, I want 5.45x39. Cheaper ammo.

Keep in mind AK-74 ammo is corrosive and US built 74’s do not have chrome lining so it seems like a waste of money.

Another good way to clean up after corrosive ammo is Windex,, it has ammonia it, which cleans out the salts well. I have no worries w/corrosive ammo.

The bigger problem with a DaewooDR-300 (7.63X39) is the same with the DR-200: parts are scarce.

We may have a winner.....

but I don't want a milled receiver,,, to heavy and unnecessary for an AK.

Lancaster Arms Brand: AK74 Rifles

Milled AK74 Rifle With black poly furniture , semi auto 5.45 x 39 , these beautiful rifles feature a Milled AK74 receiver and built with Bulgarian AK74 parts and a new stainless steel barrel and are very accurate .They have a top quality fit & finish and are backed up by a lifetime warranty . Rifles come with 1 - 30 round magazine.
