I drove a 16' uhaul pulling a double axle uhaul trailer from Aberdeen SD to Evanston WY in January of 2009. It was 34 below when we left during a "ground blizzard" and by the time we got to Evanston (about 950 miles) it was 23 above and felt downright balmy.
We were able to go the speed limit in SD even with the heavy cross winds because there was no traffic and the road was straight.
This was taken at about 55 mph going over the Missouri river.

"US-30 in PA during the Winter." I concur. While I attended Gettysburg College I drove the stretch between Bedford and Gettysburg during semester breaks and holidays. My knuckles still turn white when I think about some of the icy patches I hit.
