The scene where Scarlett (Carol Burnett) comes down the stairs in a gown made out of drapes
I remember seeing that skit live. The punch line STILL makes me laugh ... "Scarlett: Thank you. I saw it in a window and I couldn’t resist it."

If I remember the original correctly, the audience laughed so long, they almost didn’t finish the skit.

There was an interview once with Bob Mackie, who designed the costumes for the show and Ms. Burnett’s gowns. He said that when he went to the prop department and asked for a pair of drapes and a drapery rod, the props people thought he was nuts. Carol Burnett herself said that when she first saw the “gown” with the drapery rod, she literally fell on the floor laughing.
