The CDC tracks IV transmissions separately from heterosexual transmissions. The 175,000 heterosexual transmissions excludes IV drug users. Do you have a better source than the CDC? Convincing heterosexuals that there is no risk of AIDS transmission from sexual intercourse is not a very good idea.
I read an article recently that many cases of “heterosexual” AIDS transmission to men disappeared when the researchers classified the cases as homosexual *for men who had anal STDs*.
The CDC also admits that it has no accurate way of diagnosing how the person contracted AIDS and that self identification was inaccurate upon closer study.
AIDS would be FAR more widespread if it wasn't for the fact that it's transmitted only though the most unusual activities.
Considering the amount of money the Federal Government spends (thought to be about 2 billion a year) on this rare and highly avoidable disease, people should at least know that those infected with it are going out of their way to get it.
Perhaps the statistics are skewed by those who won’t admit how they got the disease.
