You’re gonna need some pliers, a set of 30-weight ball bearings. It’s all ball bearings nowadays.

Dunnooo....... could be the frenetically old bakelite board is not aligned with the oscillator parts made of unobtanium ?
But I know crap about the subject so I just check connections and press on.....well not “on” but walk away per se !

My radio doesn’t “find any stations” either.
I have to turn the knob until I hear something I like.

It all depends on the car. Check the “Chilton’s Guide” for the ‘96 Neon. You can start at your local car-parts store, or by using “Google”.

I bet if you refill the headlight fluid at the correct level and find about 50 feet of flight line for the problem it’ll be fixed in no time!

Sounds a bit scary if the electric system is the problem.

Thanks. I checked google. I guess some are “bolt-on” and others are “Spring Mounted Clips.”

I don't know much about electronics, but back in my college days the quick and easy answer was to get a Blaupunkt radio installed.
Blaupunkt - the Rolls Royce of car radios.

Both vehicles have been almost problem free. The radios bug me. I do believe there is a problem with the grounding.

Don’t forget to change the air in the vacuum tubes while you’re at it.

It must be a Transformer. It decided that there are no FM stations today worth listening to.

Ok. Regardless of what people are saying here about ‘loop’ antennas and whatnot.
First. AM/FM radios in cars use the SAME antenna. Not separate ones.
AM, being longer wave, uses a ‘Balun’ or coil wound with many turns to compensate for the difference in antenna length on the car. The ‘FM’ part of the radio pretty much uses the antenna ‘as is’.
If you are receiving AM and not FM, then more than likely one of the IF stages in the FM circuit is not working or is weak.
It needs repair or replacing.
