ESPN.com is reporting Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre underwent arthroscopic left ankle surgery.
Favre's future has been up in the air since the Vikings lost to New Orleans in the NFC championship game. He had said he would need ankle surgery if he wanted to play in 2010, but there was no word Friday about his playing career.
Messages were left by The Associated Press seeking comment from Bus Cook, Favre's agent. A Vikings spokesman declined comment when asked about the ESPN.com report.

Who cares? The guy plays football for a living for people with no lives.
He reminds me a professional wrestler who is still trying to wrestle at age 50.
No speculation needed: old people just don’t heal the same
Farve.
Used to be the most popular guy here in WI.
Now, not so much.
He’s going back home to mow his lawn for good this time.
Yep. Only people too special, wonderful and sophisticated to enjoy sports have lives. Reading Voltaire is where it's really at for them. God, they (you) are fabulously awesome, with very, very real lives. For sure. No doubt about it.
I hope you’re right but I’m afraid he loves himself so much that he will not be able to resist coming back to the Vikings so people will talk about how he’s the only grandpa playing in the NFL - which will lead to discussions that his daughter is not married. Hope the family is ready to hear that over and over again.
Better get your beer and snacks together for the big game. Don’t forget to go to Walmart and buy a bigger belt, remember the 60 incher doesn’t fit anymore.
lol guess you’re behind the news but marriage is becoming obsolete.
I used to love watching him play.He had so much fun, and it got me to watch football with my husband and not be bored to death.
I bought the whole act when he “retired”. Came in the house to watch the press conference, the tears, the whole thing. Then he goes to the Jets. Then he goes to the VikeQueens.
The Diva thing doesn’t look so good on a man. On the bright side, Aaron Rodgers seems like a good guy and not prone to Diva behavior.
I never got used to seeing Farve in purple. That just ain’t right.
: ]
60? Funny, that's the number of miles I'll be riding first thing in the morning. Waist is just over half that. How about you?
lol! and if I’m correct he didn’t marry Deanna till their daughter was 4 yrs old or something like that. I guess the fact that his daughter followed in their footsteps is ok with them.
That’s right. And don’t forget in 2009 about 40% of babies were born out of wedlock. It’s no big deal nowadays.
Let the excuses already begin...
For many Christmas’s we had Favre jersey’s mailed to us from the family in Wisconsin. Now they are put away. I will only wear my Reggie White jersey.
If he comes back this season I hope he gets hit hard and often in every game he plays.
We like Aaron too. Hoping he can take the Packers to the next level.
Favre has completely become a selfish, slimeball opportunist. There are rumors that he wants to go into the HoF as a Viking. The 16 or so years he spent with the Packers obviously mean nothing to him.
LOL
I also wished for Farve to get hit hard and often after he left us.
I know it’s common for players to leave at the drop of a hat these days, and we just got lucky (and spoiled) that Farve stayed that long.
But it still hurt when he unretired.
If he had just stayed retired the first time, I’d still admire his time at Green Bay. But to finally defect to the Vikings! That was the end of any fondness I had for Farve, regardless of his good looks and charm.
I am glad I never bought a Farve jersey.
I agree that Reggie White is jersey worthy. He was a class act and good man. I really enjoyed watching him play too.
My goodness. Fit, eh? I bet your wavy blond hair is tied in a pigtail in the back, your abs are like stone, your golden earrings shimmer against your tanned skin, and you can’t wait to move back to Cali....missing that beach volleyball, aren’t ya.
Its kinda like Packers became Favre’s ex-wife so its not suprising that he still harbor bitter feelings toward his former team.
Favre's future has been up in the air since the Vikings lost to New Orleans in the NFC championship game. And for some time before that. :') I'm actually beginning to side with Brett Favre.
