Italian villages terrorised by rampaging bear but law protects animal

A brown bear has gone on the rampage in the Italian Dolomites, killing donkeys, chickens and sheep and prompting shepherds and farmers to call for it to be killed.

Anxious locals in the mountains around the town of Asiago fear that it is only a matter of time before the bear attacks a hiker or shepherd.

The bear can cover up to 30 miles in a day.

"I'm worried for the safety of cows up in the pastures, but we also have an obligation to protect the bear and avoid any sort of violent end," said Attilio Schneck, the president of the local province of Vicenza.

Italy was outraged in 2006 when one of "their" bears, a male called Bruno, wandered across the Alps into Bavaria and was shot dead by German hunters.

Italian bears are probably on the rare side at this point. I’d be against killing this one.

Well the one the most important one back in 1571 AD at the Battle of Lepanto when they stopped Islam from taking over Europe. One of the keys were early rifles with barrels from Beretta.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Lepanto

The nice thing about Italy is they do not elect muslims to run their country and destroy it.

Italy, Germany and Austria are far tougher on Muslims than England which has surrendered to Islam.

These “europeans are idiots or cowards” posts get tedious especially when tehir people do not elect muslims to run their countries.

Stupid sheep here let the TV networks control them including Fox/Saudi News.

“and more than 15,000 Italians have signed up to a Facebook page demanding that the beast be left unharmed, despite the havoc it is wreaking among livestock
The Italians who have signed up demanding the bear be left alone should each have to pay into a pool of money to pay the Damages.

No mere “beast of the field” is worth a human life.

When a bear loses its fear of man, it usually should be shot.

Bear rug time.

Bruno crossed the wrong border.

Maybe if they made their porridge hotter or colder, the bear would go away.

Cheese. Asiago has good cheese and bears that bite sisters.

Unfortunately, ‘catch and release” is for trout.

Bad Bears return, like a bad penny.

Well...if they aren’t willing to kill it, then they need to quit complaining about a bear doing bearish things.

As a devotee of history, I know Italy has achieved greatness in the past. Among my ancestors are Italian-Swiss. They’re fierce, let me tell you!

I am not one to cry, “Europeans are idiots!”. But there is a certain eclat to being a bureaucrat in Europe, and those kinds of people are very stubborn. Unfortunately, those are guys making laws for Europe.

No, no, no. Using logic is against the rules.

Dino was one of several bears born in Slovenia and brought to Italy in an attempt to re-establish the species in the Dolomites, once part of their natural range.

They BROUGHT the bear to their neighborhood and are now dismayed it's acting like a bear?
