I grew up without air conditioning. NOBODY had airconditioning in their homes. Even window units for bedrooms were rare. In summer, you got up in the morning, and played until dark; people spent evenings on their porches.

I installed AC in this house only in 2007. People thought I was crazy to go without, but I wanted to pay cash and get central air.
