I relly don’t think a judge will let this stand if the County is challenged on it. A mistake from last year, or even three years ago? Sure. But a mistake from 16 years ago?

How many of the 180 employees no longer works for the County? How many are retired? How many are dead?

Those who remain can rightfully claim that it is an inequitable demand as there are many who will not be obligated to “pay up”.

The county will in the end be sued, and lose, for having caused mental trauma by hitting people from the blind side with a bill they can’t pay (not to mention all those who have gone on to their rewards).

An average of $200 per? The county is begging for trouble.

Those still employed by the county might have to pay to avoid repercussions, but good luck collecting from the employees who no longer work for them.

For $39,000 TOTAL, I’d think they would just call it “stupid tax” and move on. Having to defend and LOSE even ONE lawsuit would cost more than that. Who is the MORON who decided this?

16 years ago? I think they all ought to thumb their noses and refuse to give back a dime.
