My daughter has Rett syndrome. One of the features were seizures, or seizure like symptoms. Her social worker—required by the state—mentioned that sometimes a gluten free/casein free diet might reduce the symptoms.

We tried for about six months and it worked. There are lots of gluten free/casein free foods available. Its not as hard to do as you might think.

Kids need more fat and cholesterol to build up the myelin sheaths that insulate their nervous system. So this diet makes sense.

We can expect more of these epileptic spasms and reduced brain function as kids are put on politically-correct low fat diets.

This diet saved my kid's life and mind. We started 12/26/85 and were on it for 2 years 4 months. To see her start learning again was a joy you cannot imagine.

She did pitch 3 grand mal seizures in 2002 but that and the medication is/was trivial compared to what she was facing as an infant.
