FORT COLLINS, Colo. — The runaway UFO-like balloon that the world thought was carrying a 6-year-old boy is back in the hands of the parents who pleaded guilty to the hoax.

As much of a screwball nutty felon that Richard Heene turned out to be, I have to admit that he staged the most entertaining day of breathless media bamboozling that I can ever remember seeing on TV.
I started disbelieving the story as it was in progress when it became apparent how small the balloon was in the broadcast video, though I should come right out and say that when the media reported that they feared an account that eye-witnesses had seen the boy fall from the balloon, I had to hold my crotch to keep from peeing I was laughing so hard.
Mark me down with the large part of the American public who was more than a little disappointed that the story wasn't true.
