Hey media writers and TV critics remember when you had all those ideas about how to help CNNs lagging prime time ratings?
Well, put on those executive hats again because its time to help MSNBC. The networks 9am-5pmET (dayside ratings) is headed for its worst year since 1999, with even less viewers in May.
The MSNBC ratings comparison is based on the A25-54 demographic, and so far in 2010 the network is averaging 73,000 from 9am-5pmET. In the first two weeks of May, that average falls to 68,000. It takes going back to 1999 (less than three years after the network launched) to find an average lower.
This is a storyline weve discussed before, last year. It showed that CNN generally finishes 2nd place on cable during these hours, while MSNBC is fourth, and sometimes even 5th (behind fellow NBCU network CNBC). While MSNBC has far surpassed CNN during the prime time, and even pre-prime time hours, the dayside ratings are still low, despite occasional line-up shuffling. Also, it should be noted, Fox News is far and away in first place in every category.

You made my day. :)
They both thought having Pat Buchanan on their payroll was a good idea?
It starts with the lead in. Morning Joe has lurched even further left, if you can imagine that. Mika is seldom reigned in now, in the past, Joe would try to keep her in check.
I don’t know the reason for this move leftward, but it’s rendered Morning Joe unwatchable. My guess is that they are beginning their push for November and beyond. Their party is in trouble, and they are doing all they can to support it.
I prefer a more adult tone in the morning, and while Fox and Friends is closer to my views, it’s just too silly. I’m stuck with Mike and Mike on ESPN2.
Fiery hot-heads do draw some viewers, but they destroy credibility. Especially when they pull into their show the network’s other talking heads.
CNN saw a mild, primetime ratings boost when they got a couple more trasparently leftist jerks, so they rolled with it... and ripped the covers off the more subtle leftists in their normal programming, and killed their network’s ratings. Incredibly, they them launched the same disastrous tactic on Headline News, by giving Joy Behar a show. It’s usually the lowest rated show of the evening, and is killing the entire network.
This is why I watch Imus. Although, Imus was actually better before the controversy, when he was actually on MSNBC. I agree about Fox & Friends - it's just to kitschy & juvenile for my taste.
Apparently MSNBC is not in the business to make money.
Foxnews is Secretariat in his prime vs. an opposing field of gimpy plowhorses.
Morning Joe this morning was to much to bear. Does anyone think Joe and Mika are having an affair?
Oh man this kind of news and it’s Friday too!!!!
I watch Imus too....He’s all over the place politically but Bernie is usually right on!
IF you could keep Mika quiet, she might be pretty fun. When she is not rolling her eyes she is very attractive.
They could start turning their ratings around by showing the Eric Holder I Didn’t Read It clip and the Christie Eats a Reporter clip.
I never watch but something tells me that those won’t be playing any time soon.
Imus isn’t an option with my cable company.
Why would you think that? /s
That's tragic. Get the dish, blow-up the cable. I had to do the same thing.
LOL! It crossed my mind a few times, they do have a certain chemistry together that works very well on set, there may be some attraction there, but if they were really involved, I think their working so close together wouldn’t work that well anymore.
Like virtually any other true conservative, I could make CNN or MSNBC the #1 watched cable news network in the nation in about 6 months. Just turn it into the ACTUAL conservative network FOX is only REPUTED to be.
I woner if Comcast will keep this channel going or replace it with Vince and his Slap-Chop?
