Oh brother. Gen. Stanley McChrystal is wanting a new medal to be awarded to U.S. Soldiers for showing "Courageous Restraint" - not killing civilians.
In the report, CNN Reporter Barbara Starr said she asked one soldier what he thought about it, and he just "rolled his eyes." He told her they are already trained to be disciplined and not kill civilians and sees no reason for a medal like this.

McChrystal has clearly been "in the rear with the gear" far too long. I have a feeling he got feedback from "the field" and realized he made a jackass out of himself by not laughing off this idiocy the first time he heard of it. Oh well.. better late than never.

While it is good to see McC distance himself from this, the “yellow badge of discretion” is all part of the trajectory of socialism: we pay farmer not to grow crops, laborers not to work, et cetera. So why not pay soldiers not to fight.

I’m kinda in favor of this new “medal” idea.
It should be made from the traditional and old fashioned white feather.
Then we could get all manner of cool new twists on the old story as our soldiers go out on their own dime to engage in acts of such courage that the government is forced to take the thing back.
