We probably won't see Cleveland Orchestra maestro Franz Welser-Most hangin' out at Cavs courtside with hip-hop mogul Jay-Z anytime soon. But the Cleveland Orchestra is still doing its part to cheer Cavaliers to victory in the NBA Playoffs.. The musicians of orchestra and the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus teamed up with conductor Robert Porco to make a Go Cavs viral video featuring a performance of the "O Fortuna" chorus of Carl Orff's sweeping masterpiece, "Carmina Burana."
The video, filmed in partnership with WVIZ/PBSideastream, comes complete with shout outs from percussionist Richard Weiner, contrabassoonist Jonathan Sherwin and cellist Martha Baldwin (who even manages a triple-double joke). Head bands and Lebron-style magic dust are also featured.

No matter how our sports teams disappoint, our Cleveland Orchestra never does. They still come from all corners of the planet to see if they are good enough to play in Severence Hall.
Not only great, world-class musicians, but world-class people.
If not for the winters, I’d move back tomorrow. It’s a great town.

Every time I watch the Cavs, my stomach is in knots. I hope they win tonight...it’s been so long since we have had a “winner” and not a “runner up”. Sports in Cleveland has been a series of heartbreaks...it’s their time. Go Cavs!
My team was drummed out of it. I need someone to root for, and it will never be the lakers, so go Cavs!

I was AT the game known as The Drive. In the Dawg Pound (one and only time) next to two guys wearing togas. I think only the alcohol kept them alive, it was so flippin’ cold down there, with the wind off the lake.
And...just in case anyone wonders: That field goal by Rich Karlis was NO GOOD. I was right there, dammit. My sister and I got so loaded after the game, I think our cousing was called to pick us up. I don’t remember. I also seem to have “lost” the two days afterwards.
I had season tickets for the Tribe from 1991-2004, so I was able to witness the World Series follies. I was actually at the game where the ball bounced off Canseco’s head for a home run. Funniest thing ever. LOL
Our family had season tickets at the Coliseum from 1974-1977 for the Cavs. Yeah, The Miracle of Richfield year.
After all the money my family has poured into sports teams, they owe us, don’t you think?

My father had season tickets for the Browns. My big drinking moment was Red-Right-88. I have never gone from so happy to so sad so fast! I froze my butt off that day.
I remember the miracle at Richfield! I was rather young, but I really remember the tiny little shorts they used to wear, I don’t even know how they managed to play in those! My best memories were the Mark Price years. We never looked so good, but somehow Jordan always found a way to destroy us at the very last second (argh).
Do you remember exactly where the colliseum was? My husband and I live in Broadview Heights (right by Richfield)
we keep trying to figure out exactly where it had been, but we cant remember. All we can really remember was that it was really near the off-ramp. We could see it from the freeway, but that’s it. Do you remember?
I can’t name the roads, but I could drive there.
We lived in Sagamore Hills, so we took Rt.8 to the freeway (I think 271) and it was after Blossom and the Cuyahoga Falls exit, on our right side (west), Richfield exit, now that I’m thinking about it. I think that is where Grover and Sharon live now, in Richfield or Peninsula.
In any event, the last time I was at the Coliseum was for the Mark Price era game with Boston. I remember it vividly because some character made a homemade sign posted right on the exit ramp sign. It said:
“Larry Bird’s last game”....with an arrow to the arena.
And as it turned out, that WAS Larry Bird’s last NBA game!
(my now 76 year old dad refers to that game, btw, as the last great basketball game in the NBA, before the thuggery and playground antics came into the game. The tattoos, the hard fouls, trash-talking, are a turnoff to him now.) He still follows the Cavs but he also enjoys women’s college basketball because it’s more like the original game, he says.
I think we have the same Dad! Mine likes College too. Mine is a 97 year old ex-marine. Wow, he has opinions on everything! He does love LeBron though. I remember how he used to marvel at Jordan and wish we had someone like that, now we do.
He had tickets for the browns when they played at the Rubber Bowl. Wow, have they been a disappointment to him, but he keeps on watching and hoping.
The celtics do play a fairly dirty game. The officials seem to be allowing them to play through the fouls, but Boston plays dirtier. It’s definatly to our disadvantage. I’m definately praying for them tonight!
