Thanks for this report. The tourist business is jumping here in Arizona too. Can’t believe anything you see or read in the state run “media” these days.
Just got a text from my lady friend in Biloxi. There is an oil sheen on the waters there.
“I take a walk on the beach nearly every day, and I have never seen it as crowded as it is on this Mother’s Day. Every parking lot was full. Sunbathers, swimmers, surfers, snorkelers, and fisherman line the coast as far as the eye can see.”
I’m guessing folks are getting in that beach trip before the oil hits and those beautiful white beaches are turned to brown sludge. It is coming and it is GOING TO SUCK beyond belief!
I have just been so upset by this and I don’t even live in FL. THe gulf coast beaches are the jewel of the south.
I shudder to think of the wildlife impact too.
My wife and I have spent many enjoyable vacations near you (along Hwy 30-A). We have always thought those are some of the most beautiful beaches anywhere. I sure hope your area is not affected by the oil mess.
I imagine everyone is there because this looks like it could be the last weekend we’ll all get to go down there.
You know. BP’s incompetence in this. Beyond criminal, they deserve to go bankrupt for this. The Obama administration’s laughable response, well, that’s why we have elections. What really has got to me though is the wait. It is far worse waiting every day hearing how its inching closer than if it had just went on and came ashore this last week like its supposed to. It’s just making it worse.
