REXBURG - Several indecent exposure incidents on the afternoon of April 30 have led to felony charges against a Rexburg man.
Travis Lee Martin, 22, a Brigham Young University-Idaho student, was charged Monday with two counts of sexual abuse of a child under 16, both felonies.
He was also charged with three misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure.
Capt. Randy Lewis of the Rexburg Police Department said the incidents occurred at Smith Park, Porter Park, Tuscany Apartments parking lot and on College Avenue.
Lewis said witnesses stated that Martin was masturbating in his car and the door was open.
Martin has been released from the Madison County Jail after posting a $50,000 bond.
Lately on FR, I've grown accustomed to being called a @#$%^, ^&$*@, $%$#%@# and a #$%@#$ when disagreeing with other posters.
The comment that you “hate” Mormons was unduly harsh. I'm sorry; I was out of line.
I still don't consider the polygamist sects the same as mainstream Mormons. Do you consider the Westboro Baptist Church “Baptist” or “Christian?”
oh boy another slam Mormons to death post! Gimme some popcorn.
One of the great things about FR, is that if you are not interested in a story you don’t have to read it.
If every “news story” was posted here we wouldn’t be able to communicate with each other. The story has no purpose other than to take up space ...
They probably published it because it was a local story... that’s not the case here.
Unfortunately, I must agree with you. I can only surmise that many FReepers are really frustrated and are taking it out on other FReepers because of the anonymity of the internet.
The sad thing is, that many have a lot in common and should be able to agree to disagree, but I don't see much of that happening right now.
FRegards,

Well, its a good thing on FR that we each get to decide what would be of interest to us and post that story. We also get to ignore what is not of interest.
And we get to comment on the process...
Yep, isn’t that great!
Would you let your daughter peruse FR with headlines like this?
Zero class.
Apology accepted. (As you can imagine, my skin's become thickened as well:) )
I still don't consider the polygamist sects the same as mainstream Mormons. Do you consider the Westboro Baptist Church Baptist or Christian?
Excellent Q, not original with you; when brought to my attention before I deemed it then as a "poor comparison."
The reason I said it was a poor comparison was for at least 2 reasons...
The most important consideration is when you look at the defining characteristic of these false "churches":
For the fLDS, it's polygamy.
And what supposed Mormon "scripture" & doctrine backs that up? (Doctrine & Covenants 132 -- NEVER rescinded or changed or deleted by the mainstream Mormons...it exists like an "old law" still "on the books").
Now compare Phelps' Westboro.
What defining characteristic is there for this group?
For the Phelps, it's picketing.
Is that mainline Christian "Scripture?" (Answer: NO!)
Secondly the Phelps is better defined as one extended family -- versus a "church." (That's about all its "church" is made up of).
I still don't consider the polygamist sects the same as mainstream Mormons.
Well, do you consider them "Christian?" What do you do with the Mormon claim that Mormons = "Christians"? Is it OK for mainstream Mormons to draw boundaries between who is "Mormon" and who isn't? But then they frown upon Christians not defining "Mormons" as Christians? (Is that inconsistent?)
I also mentioned Canadian Mormon FReeper Edward Watson earlier. Well, not only does Watson deem the fLDS as Mormon, but he also told me in 2008, "Of course, they're Christian..."
So a fundamentalist Mormon-is a Mormon-is a Christian? (Well, I'm not the one who says "no boundaries exist" for the fLDS or other sociologically outlandish groups like Westboro Baptist). <
Why yes. My daughter is a grown woman and if a story was of interest to her and she felt it might be of interest to someone else, who am I to tell she must not post the story.
Have you visited the "Naughty Teacher" threads and made similar comments concerning the gleeful posts of "NOT GUILTY?"
There's a lot of material on FR, as well as the rest of the internet, which is not appropriate to certain persons of low chronological age, questionable maturity levels and delicate sensibilities.
I don’t even know what that is, so no. Have you?
GOPJ, every story is "local." Every story has some local community and some local newspaper to publish it. The LA Times has an "Orange County" version...so if the LA Times runs something in its Orange County version only, and somebody puts it on FR, you call that into question?
Every week, hundreds of "local events" are published on FR. Some are about abuse; some about a local murder, etc. I've seen dozens of local articles on FR about some school teacher who abused a student, or the initial break of a Roman Catholic priest or Boy Scout leader accused of abuse. Now if you're the person who comes on each of these hundreds of threads, and asks this question, then so be it. But if not, what's your motivation in asking?
I had a close encounter with a pervert at the airport when I was a young mom with an infant.
So my sweet husband is getting the luggage checked in and I sat down with the baby in a row of seats. This man - real real deathly pale - sat next to us and I knew he was very sick. He had a trench coat on. Suddenly he whips open his coat and starts masturbating right next to me. It was between putting the baby down and punching him or making a bee line for a cop nearby to catch him. So I ran with the baby to the cop...who caught him. He was one sick puppy.
Hey, I'm all for age-appropriate reading. But if she's "old enough," what's the alternative? Lock her in a cave? Don't explain exhibitionists live in our neighborhoods? Let her encounter it un-forewarned? Or you'll tear out the part of the Bible -- the book of Judges where several men raped a concubine all night, until she died. And then her "master" -- in order to provoke outrage over it -- cut up her body and sent it to the various tribes of Israel? That all becomes a part of the Bible you won't let her read? You'll call part of the Bible "zero class" to be consistent?
We need to wake up about the culture we live in. The Rexburg area is a highly conservative Mormon community in Rexburg. If stuff like that is happening there, don't be surprised if it turns up where you least expect it.
Well, I went there a second and that was it. Thanks? Now why again do you have that saved?
Exactly. These people, and those who abuse themselves via porn, are putting themselves on display and practically are begging for help. They are either addicts or slaves (sometimes literally so on the latter) — or both.
