Fantastic!!! And a very appropriate message as well...
I hope the media doesn’t butcher up the news...I haven’t actually seen the news before I saw this posting...
I agree, it is that way to ease fabrication...
Man, I would have loved to be on the team designing that thing...I bet some of it had to be done on the fly...
Looks like they had some places where they could have dedicated spots for the ROV’s to attach or push/pull on to position the cap precisely where it needed to go...
I bet it was a walk in the park, but those operators sitting on eggshells...hehehe
Make sense. Thanks.
Boxes are easier to build.
Yahoo says they are closer...
Yahoo, wayyyyyy behind the curve, as usual...

We’re domed!
If this idea works, Obama is going to have them build one to put over Joe Biden.
This operation will be considered a walk in the park compared to that problem...;-)
I’ll Bet you think it will be more difficult to raise a pyramid from the ocean floor than a cube
ATM pressure
As a scuba diver you quickly learn that at the surface you are at 0 ATM of pressure...at 33 feet below the surface at 66 feet 2 atm of pressure and on and on and on every 33 feet = an additional ATM of pressure.
ALSO when you go up higher and higher in the atmosphere, air gets thinner and less ATM pressure. That’s why NO fly for scuba divers after being under 2 or more atms of pressure, until all gas comes out of compression in muscles, blood, tissues etc.
So I’ll guess you are also a scuba diver and work in the oilfield well control and blowout containment as “I do”.
Or you are a Holiday Inn dweller...my bet is on the latter.
You yourself just argued successfully as to why the wings do not exert downward pressure due to the weight of the water above. Pressure is the same in all directions, on the sea floor, 100,000 ft in the atmosphere, etc.
Did your SCUBA and oil field instructors omit the Fluid Dynamics lessons or are you just lacking common sense?
Below is an image of the flight path my son did yesterday over the oil in the Gulf of Mexico. You can see he departed from the airport in Mobile, and went over the outer eastern islands of Louisiana, proceeded to the site of the actual tower, circled it, and returned to the Mobile airport. I've merged a few photos to give you an idea of the aircraft, sensor location, and interior. Results of this imagery have been some of the finest detail, and resolution on this mess currently available. The results of the flight have been released to the various news media. Son's wife said she saw it was running on CNN & Headline News.
Check out a different video on the address I put into the image - or click here - to see what the capability of this imaging system is.
FLIR imagery via sensors is gyro stabilized.
LOL! Bwahaha! OMG! Post-of-the-Century! Worthy, I say, of a Laz ping.
that's my hunch. even though it would be more stylish.
