I have a Texas born cousin who lives in Christchurch. He is a now retired Presbyterian minister. We visited NZ in 2001 and had a fabulous time. Most beautiful place I have ever been. I would love to go back but we are getting a little up in age (70 & 75)for such a long trip. We love the comfort of our home and I am so glad we went when we did.
Not dating guys who wear leather jackets and ride motor bikes...

I was there the year before you (2000) for the 150th anniversary of the First Four Ships...
a Mayflower thingy on a smaller scale..
I took my dau and her toddler..
My ggg grandparents and their children had come on one of the ships..
PM Helen Potter spoke to us at a special ceremony on the docks in Lyttleton and we all felt special etc ...
The last time I was in NZ was Dec 2008....
My Dad was born on Montreal Street in CHCH...
My Nana’s old house he was born in is now part of the Ferrymead project...
Lots of my family were Presbyterians...especially the ones who lived in the Dunedin area...
Or Anglicans....The ones in Canterbury...(Christchurch) were mostly Anglicans..

My aunt and uncle moved from Houston around 1950 to Auckland. My cousins were both a few years younger than me.I was 10 years old. They were young enough to forget their Texas ways and accent and they are complete Kiwis. My girl cousin is an MD in Auckland.
My brother was in the Navy and was stationed in Davenport (Auckland) during Nam...he shipped out of there and they patrolled the China Sea
A brother and a sister of my Dad used to live in Auckland...
Theyre dead now but I still have cousins there..
The rest of the family live in the South Island
We spent 3 weeks in NZ and saw most of the south island and a fair amount of the north island. Fabulous. I watched them bungie jumping but I didn’t join them. LOL!
You must have gone down to Queenstown for the bungie jumping..
We did, we went almost every where. We hired a young man to drive us in our rented car and he really showed us around. It was great.
