You’re right. They’re wild animals, feral cats on steroids, but they’re soooooo cute right now. All babies are cute.

When I was a kid I found a kitten. It was as big as a 6-8 week old house cat, but had very big paws and the eyes open. They eyes were beautiful blue but the kitten could not see. It smelled like diesel, actually stunk pretty bad, and the top hairs looked burned. It also had a long tail and was agouti in color.

I THOUGHT it was kitten that had been in a fire and was blind and had burned pads. But it still had a navel attached.

What it was.....was MOUNTIAN LION KITTEN, LESS THAN A WEEK OLD AND HAD BEEN BURNED OUT OF IT'S DEN BY THE NASTY NEIGHBOR.

It would not eat and only screamed constantly. My parents told me to take it back to where I found it, the bottom of a ditch behind the house in Modoc County, CA.

The dogs got ahold of it and killed it. It was only many years later that I figured out what it was.

When I worked as a nurse on OB/GYN the nusery was just next door and at the end of shift we would go look in the nursery’s for a baby fix....saw one or two that were quite homely....(won’t use the term ugly) :O)

In retrospect, did your parents worry about sending you with a mountain lion cub back to the mama’s lair? :)

Sad story. Had to take out a mountain lion that was killing everything that moved a few years ago. Actually my neighbor ended him, I was gone the day the cat showed himself.
