I completely disagree with the premise here. My view is that this oil spill is EXACTLY what 0bama wants. I myself don’t buy the theory that this is a political defeat of any kind for him. And I think this is an **astoundingly** dangerous piece of misdirection that is working magnificently (for him) and that people are getting caught up and quite thoroughly bamboozled. I’m being totally serious.
Why?
1: 5 year setback for offshore oil drilling and all the areas he allegedly opened up for “exploration”.
2: More impetus for even more green energy foolishness. Equals funding for 250,000 more “green jobs” (yeah, right) and Al Gore and Goldman. And as for Goldman Sachs, the creation and implementation of a carbon-trading exchange (which this bumps forward) will dwarf whatever fines or potential criminal liabilities they may face in the current dust-up BY A FACTOR OF AT LEAST 1000. I will remind everyone that this is the nature of these political payoffs; the ROI is astronomical. In case it isn’t clear, yes, I categorically state that the current prosecutions of Goldman are sheer theater.
3: Potential for punishing oil company/companies; In this case, massive fine for BP. In other cases, possibility of setting up 3 new agencies charged with overseeing potential offshore drilling. Czars, bureaucrats, more control by the EPA, new egregious fees not only for the oil drilling permits but to prepay air pollution fees in case spilled oil needs to be burned off in future spills. I mean, the fee potential here is giant.
That he waited to respond in whatever way he responded will not have the slightest shred of relevance 45 days from now. What’s he supposed to do, send in Jesse Jackson?
Seriously, I don’t see the negative political aspects at all for him. On the contrary, IMO this is a quintuple win for him, and if I’m right, the effectiveness of the misdirection is so far shocking.
There’s literally nothing about this jerk that I like, but the reflexive habit of calling him out or blaming him or shredding him for anything and everything that happens under his regime isn’t something I support. And I believe that everyone is getting sucked into it.

I agree that this is going to be an economic and environmental disaster; but, I can’t handle it when Shep gets shrill. I have friends sprinkled all along the gulf coast from Lousianna to Florida and I am well aware how this is going to impact each and everyone of them. Whether or not Shep is satisfied with his “summer menu” is not of great interest to me today.
As a rule, I find Shep entertaining and don’t see him as a serious journalist. I just wanted him to calm down and get down to some reporting!
I had to come to FR to get a clear picture of what is actually going on with clean up, the investigation, how this impacts future drilling, economic/environmental impact, etc....thank the Lord for FR!

He is the enemy and will do ANYTHING to bring communism into power in the USA. I believe in fighting with every tool available.
Theres also the fact that he is President and is in the end responsible for federal response to national disasters.
