LOL! My guess lots of booze, drugs, womanizing, rape or intimidation, abortions, labotomies, murder, corruption, organized crime, etc etc.

Yet the same crowd always relishes in savaging the character and memory of Conservative icons.

History will ultimately record that sex and scandal were the least objectionable elements of the Kennedy Legacy.

A mini-series on the Kennedys, concentrating on sex and scandal?

Yeah . . . that sounds about right.

That would have more facts than the liberal legend does.

American liberals and historians who have branded it a “political character assassination” concentrating on sex and scandal.

Without the sex and scandal, there’d be nothing to report on the Kennedys...

Apparently, the liberals protesting the dramatized version didn’t see “The Kennedys” documentary by PBS, which was astonishingly honest about Papa Joe and JFK’s extramarital romps.

You can watch it online:

I haven’t heard about the ‘outrage’ in the US and yet it is featured in a British online paper. I am wondering if the media are not complaining much in the US for fear of attracting attention to it - is there a blackout? Someone who does have cable or watch TV wanna comment on this (I am online only, no cable tv)

the screenplay he read was "largely a soap opera about the Kennedy sex lives" and portrayed President Kennedy as a "lightweight dilettante."

Well, I suppose he could rewrite it so he's portrayed as a "witty, lightweight dilettante. The Soviets pegged him as a wuss, built the Berlin Wall and put the missiles in Cuber. But he did give good press conferences and came up with some witty responses on occasion (sans teleprompter).

Wasn’t Kennedy fairly conservative by today’s standards in his positions?

By today's standards, yes on some issues. But not by the standards of the late 50's.

I didn’t know about the Bobby-Jackie affair until recently. While John was hosing anything wearing a skirt... Bobby and Jackie were getting it on. I love it!

A Kennedy mini-series? Well, OK. As long as I don’t have to see a Teddy look alike stumbling around without his pants.

If this Surnow guy is so Conservative why did 24 swerve so far left these last few years?

The one quote in the article when JFK tells his brother that if he doesn’t get laid every few days with a new woman is true...in Harold MacMillian’s bio ( British PM in the 1960’s)he tells the story of JFK telling him this.....if he told the brit we can be sure he told his bro.

"...David Talbot, a best-selling author on the Kennedy family, said the draft screenplay he read was "largely a soap opera about the Kennedy sex lives" and portrayed President Kennedy as a "lightweight dilettante." "It's a distortion, I think almost perversely so," he said.

Hmmm. I see. What, do you think, would be Mary Jo Kopechne's opinion of its truthfulness... that is, were she alive to opine?
