Its no secret that we, here, at DefenseReview are VERY BIG Glock pistol proponents. For us, when it comes to pistols, its pretty much either Glock (9mm Parabellum a.k.a. 9×19mm NATO) or 1911 (9mm, 40 S&W, and .45 ACP) pistols when it comes to carry and competition applications. In fact, for tactical use, our first choice is a Glock 19 (G19), Glock 17 (G17), or Glock 34 (G34), depending on the mission-specific requirements/parameters, and our second choice is a custom single-stack or double-stack/hi-cap 1911 pistol built by pistolsmith Bob Marvel of Bob Marvel Guns (BMG) / Marvel Custom Pistols (MCP) (We should note that we also like the HK P7M13 and P7M8 squeeze-cocker pistols with quality jacketed factory ammo (115gr or higher), but the P7M13 is relatively heavy compared to the G19, and it gets hot pretty quickly under rapid fire at fairly low round count.).
So, being the Glock fans we are, we really enjoyed getting to view and handle Lone Wolfs new aftermarket 1911-style polymer grip frame for the Glock 17/22 (G17/22) pistolswhich can also be applied to the Glock 24 (G24) and Glock 34/35 (G34/35) pistolsat the tail end of SHOT Show 2010. It features a 1911-style and angled grip, extended beavertail tang, removable/replaceable/modular backstrap for different hand shapes and sizes, and Mil-Std-1913 dust cover rail system for mounting tactical white light and laser modules. The beavertail assists with recoil management/muzzle rise reduction and eliminates slide bite for people who utilize a high griplike myself, for instance. I get bitten by the (Glock) slide all the time.
Anyway, the product looked and felt great in the hand. Its a particularly great idea for 1911 owners/shooters who want grip angle consistency between their 1911s and Glocks,

Ummmm I have owned four of them and sold all four over a period of years. I can take 'em or leave 'em. I liked my Glock M21 45 for IDPA competitions, but it was too honkin' HUGE to carry in the south Florida heat. The Glock 30 45 was smaller, but the grip was too blocky. I liked that but wanted an XD45 which was a much better grip, so I sold that to my nephew. The Glock M23 had waaaay too much barrel whip and got rid of that since it induced a lot of flinch. I think my fav Glock was M27 which wasn't a lot of fun to shoot at static targets and induced the same flinch, but was awesome for IDPA and that I think was the "Sundance Kid" syndrome. You know: "Can I move? I'm better when I move." Kept that gun the longest but eventually sold it when I determined I didn't want to keep stockpiling just one odd caliber for just one weapon. I've stuck to 9mm and 45acp ever since. But Glocks? EH. So so. They're okay ... I guess.
That is WAY less fugly to me than the Colt. It's kind of combloc weenie looking, but that Colt is like a crime against nature. I think the dogleg in the grip, both front and back, is a big part of it. The grip on the Stechkin is more Hi-Powerish by comparison.
I am a sucker for com bloc stuff
That’s a Springfield XD45? How do you like it? I held one at Cabella’s and liked the way it felt.
The next time the ass end of a High Point comes blasting out like a reverse bullet, I’ll try to get a picture of it.
I’ve been carrying a Model C9 9mm for years, guarding VIPs, high value real estate, etc., as was everyone in our company, and never had a problem.
;>)
If you happen to have one you don’t want, I’d be happy to recycle it for you.
Rented one at an indoor range - talk to them.
;>)
(They just don't feel right to me... ;>)
