Hawaii Legislature OKs measure re: Obama's birth certificate

A brand-new chapter dawns in the birther controversy over President Obama's hidden birth certificate.

The Hawaii legislature has now officially passed a measure that would allow state officials to legally ignore each month's dozens of repeated requests by persons or organizations seeking to see the infant Obama's actual birth certificate.

I have to produce my valid birth certificate for so many things in my life. It’s the least the states should require - of ALL candidates, not just one specific one - to get listed on the ballot. Every state should pass this measure in time for the 2010 midterms. How can anyone justify voting against it?

Failing to comply with these requests for one particular person for the reason of it being a costly burden doesn’t suffice.
All they have to do is release it a couple of times and that would be the end of it. So cost of not complying is higher than cost of complying. Not to mention the cost of a Supreme court case challenging the very selective nature of this law.

Forget about the Birth Certificate. BHO's II Form SS-5, Application for Social Security Number will state whether or not he is a U.S. citizen or a legal alien authorized to work in the U.S.

It will also indicate whether he used his birth certificate or his immigration papers to prove identity.

This bill wouldn’t stand up to a first amendment challenge. The premise behind the bill is faulty anyway about vexatious requestors. Many of the repeat requests are because the DOH plays dumb and ASKS requestors to restate their requests. Second, these aren’t repeat requests for the same information. We can tell this because the DOH posted an FAQ page about Obama with five different categories of information posted to address the different types of questions they get from the so-called vexatious requestors.

It includes clarifcations on disclosure laws; the difference between a birth certificate, certificate of live birth and certification of live birth; index data; past statements made by the directorbabe; records pertaining to the database; and rules and regulations within the department including:

Public Health Regulations Chapter 8 (Vital Records Regulations and Records)
Public Health Regulations Chapter 8A (Delayed Birth Registration)
Public Health Regulations Chapter 8B (Vital Statistics Regulations and Records)
Hawaii Administrative Rules, Title 11 Department of Health Chapter 120 (Foreign Born Persons Adopted in Hawaii)
Hawaii Administrative Rules, Title 11 Department of Health Chapter 123 (Names of Natural Parents in Birth Certificate of Adopted Person)

Why is it simpler to change the law over requests dealing with one person when full disclosure (legal under state law) would resolve the issue?? Why does Obama leave the HI DOH hanging out to dry when he can give them permission to provide full disclosure of his birth records??
