KDFW's leader for tonight's late news: "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. The words on the Statue of Liberty have welcomed generations of immigrants, but now at least one state says 'enough is enough.'"
Apparently this Fox affiliate is too stupid to understand the difference between immigrants and ILLEGAL immigrants. Freepers care to explain it to them? Couldn't get an email address from my Blackberry, but here's their phone number: 214-720-4444. Light 'em up. And if some Freeper can post their email address, let's light that up, too!
Ellis Island, on which the Statue of Liberty rests, was an immigrant registration and processing center.
This is why I don’t watch the Fox affiliate in Dallas. They have been slowly leaning left for awhile now.
Fox news. We distort, you deride.
Exactly my point: It was a place for immigrants to come here LEGALLY.
Forgot to add: They had some pathetic donk nitwit, a state sen or rep, expressing his disagreement with the bill. He was clearly an idiot though, so that probably did more good than harm...
“Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”
This was valid at a time when we were free ... before government health care, retirement plans, housing, food, education etc. pretty much wiped out our “sign here” policy to become an American citizen. It’s become too damn expensive for the Feds to support “your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.” ... we really aren’t that free anymore anyway.
Get rid of all the government “welfare” programs and I’ll be more than happy to support more relaxed immigration laws.
These are ILLEGAL trespassers - if we did this in Mexico [crossing illegally], we'd be tossed in jail. Happens EVERYDAY down there ...
The Mexican government doesn't mind THEIR citizens illegally crossing into the United States - but they SURE AS HELL do what they can to stop illegal crossings from south of their border ...
Just like MSNBC. They just don’t understand the illegal part means they committed a crime in violating our borders and immigration laws. When you commit a crime you can be arrested. The law simply allows AZ arrest someone who committed a crime.
______
...... yes indeed.
perhaps they should be reminded Cesar Chavez waded into fields of illegals with a baseball bat - he hated them for the strikebreakers and wagekillers they were and fought for tough immigration laws his entire life.
Oh, I agree. But I’m struggling just to get some people to understand - and stand up for - “ILLEGAL immigrant,” let alone “illegal alien” or “criminal.”
Haven’t seen anyone say they’ve even called or emailed on even my smaller point. I’m just trying to help win a skirmish - and apparently failing - let alone a battle. I hope it doesn’t come to a war...
The Statue of Liberty is on Liberty Island, not Ellis Island. They are close, but are separate islands.
Ellis Island - Part of Statue of Liberty
Ellis Island is part of the Statue of Liberty National Monument.

So they are in fact two islands?
THank you.
Yes, two islands, but all part of the same park complex.
“STOP calling them immigrants !!!
These are ILLEGAL trespassers - if we did this in Mexico [crossing illegally], we’d be tossed in jail. Happens EVERYDAY down there”
I wonder if they have the same problem distinguishing “shoppers” from “shoplifters”!
Anyone have David Cooperfield on tweeter?
I need a favor.
LOL
THank you!
Dallas, along with Houston and Austin, is now very lefty liberal and you can add San Antonio if the subject involves illegal aliens. .....Very disappointing to me since I was born and raised in Dallas and now live between Dallas and Fort Worth. I can remember when Dallas was mostly Conservative and the people would not tolerate the liberal crap from the politicians or anyone in the news media.
I only watch the local Fox, NBC or CBS for weather and sports info; not for news. Other than their tendancy at times to support the global warming hoax, it’s otherwise tough to put a liberal spin to weather and sports.
