You dont (or didnt) live in Texas, where the only way to tell you won is if the clerk was dumb enough to say so. I saw it first-hand.

I mean, in case you don't know... you can just get on the Internet and find the winning numbers if you want. You can read the next day's paper and find the winning numbers. You don't have to go back to the store to find out what the winning numbers were... :-)

NAILED ME. You are right. You can go to the Internet and get the results. I was biased because my wife was RELYING on these clerks for YEARS...until I caught on to the SCAM.
A lot of the lottery players at the tobacco shop near my home aren't exactly the internet or newspaper types. You'd be amazed at the number that come in to have the clerk "check" their ticket. I suspect that with a huge jackpot that is widely publicized before hand a lot of people that aren't regular players will buy a ticket and assume they need to have it validated at the source.
