What made the original work was Barbara Eden's ability to project a persona that combined innocence, mischief, and love. There is no way that Hollywood could make Jeannie in 2010 and preserve all the qualities that made it work.

Can you imagine Hollywood feminists tolerating a female lead who's a pure innocent and a dingbat?
