Caldwell Police executed a search warrant on a Caldwell home on the 600 block of Kimball Avenue Tuesday night. Inside they found some of what they were looking for.
"We did find some narcotics, some drug paraphernalia, gang paraphernalia and some firearms," said Caldwell Police Sergeant Joey Hoadley.
Police said a 17-year old boy was the only one inside and surrendered right away.
But family members said he did have his pitbull Tank who ran after him.
"The dog appeared to be barking and growling and somewhat aggressive towards the officers," said Sgt. Hoadley.
But a family friend who did not want to appear on camera said Tank is always nice to everyone.
"Anybody that comes up to the yard he comes up and smells him and wags his tail and plays with them," said a family friend.
Police said the dog was approaching the officers aggressively and was shot.
The wounded dog ran to the backyard and that's where officers shot him again, killing him. Police say they disposed of the animal in a trashcan.
Now family friends said they are outraged over the police's actions.
"They were shining the lights at the dog and laughing as they threw him in the trash can," said a witness.
Police said the 17-year old could be connected to a drive-by shooting that happened a few weeks ago.
Police said the drive by shooting is gang related and they are still investigating if the drugs and weapons found with the 17-year old, who was arrested and released last night, could be part of that same incident.

Another senseless gang shooting.
It’s a police matter. Nothing to see here. Move along!

I am sorry but I can not manage one sad tear for criminals no matter what happens to them.
When people engage in illegal activity I really can’t manage to feel and sympathy for them.
Sure, Pitbulls owned by drug-dealing, drive-by shooting, gang members are always sweet and cuddly and would NEVER pose a threat to a police officer. /sarc

Penny, are you saying that you do not object to police shooting dogs that belong to criminals?
Does Chet have an alibi?

I suppose so.
Animals are animals.
Animals are property; would you be fine with the cops peeing on the couch of any random person they arrest?
Drugs, gangs, murders, abused dogs. Lots of laughs. Pigs, just barely better than the garbage they’re arresting.

Poor baby.

How about dousing them with gas and lighting them? Dragging behind a car? They are, after all, animals.
You are clearly not stable. I am not sure where you are coming from, but so that I can argue the same line could you please let me know if you are for property rights or animal rights?
I am for victim rights and the denial therof for criminals.
