Hi-Point C9 9mm pistol, about $140, brand-new w/lifetime, transferable warranty. My .40 cal S&W was three times that much, but I'd gladly pay that again for it. I'll have to do some reading to see how the Hi Point compares to it. Things are tight, but I could manage one of these for the wife.

Hi-Point pistols come in .308, 9mm, .40 S&W and .45 IIRC, prices vary, but not by much. Warranty applies to all products.
