The USA Network has made plans to burn up the cable ratings for two more seasons. Variety is reporting that the USA Network has handed out fifth and sixth season orders for the hit series Burn Notice, two months before Season 4 is set to air.
The show of confidence in this isn't entirely surprising, since it's the highest-rated show on basic cable, averaging 7.1 million viewers for Season 3, with 6.1 million viewers tuning in for the season finale. Having the show noticed on a late-night comedy series also helped.
"Once Saturday Night Live makes fun of you, how can you not commit to extra seasons?" said Jeff Wachtel, the USA Network's president of original programming. Wachtel was referring to a skit on the long-running series where quiz show contestants were asked questions about Burn Notice.
It was said that Season 5 will run a minimum of 15 episodes while Season 6 will receive a minimum of 18 episodes. Season 4 is currently shooting in Miami and Season 5 will start production in about a year from now.
The series stars Jeffrey Donovan, Gabrielle Anwar, Bruce Campbell and Sharon Gless.

Yay!! A great show.
Damn good show. Seems like the only intelligent shows on TV are on TNT or USA or FX or channels like that.
I actually started watching Burn Notice as a possible replacement now that Jack Bauer is retiring (or at least moving on to movies). I’ve only seen a half dozen episodes or so — a few from Season 3 on USA, and a couple from Season 1 on DVD. All have been very good.
It is quite a bit more lighthearted than some hardcore espionage franchises (like 24) ... but the lead actor makes it work. He’s good at both the serious, and the lighthearted (I don’t think Bauer could do humor).
Looking forward to catching up on the whole series.

Why?
I like an ad they used to run:
“Burn Notice: Just freakin’ kewl”
It is. I’ve watched it from the beginning and always hate when a season break happens.
You can watch ‘morning after’ on Hulu.com, I think.
Netflix has a few of the previous seasons available on DVD.
It’s kinda of a low-budget James Bond once a week.
I love it.
Isn’t Netflix owned by the guy who started Hastings (a Borders type of book store/video chanin)? I think he is a (active) Christian too.
This show is pretty good. I must say I think that some of the best TV shows the past few years have come from Cable, especially the USA network. I loved Monk and I enjoy watching Psych. The only thing on regular TV I like is NCIS. I don’t really bother with much else and I can’t be tied down to watching TV series anyways. I’ll see them when I see them...
Ya’ think? I don’t know. I admire Finley’s audacity and lack of self-consciousness when he throws himself into character. You honestly don’t know whether to slap him or laugh outright. It’s hard to hate a nice bad guy. Of course, it can be done, ;-) especially when they’re serious. I’m learning that day by day with our current President. Ooh, did I say that?!? Typing out loud again.
I’ve heard of it. It’s not a liberal show with liberal crap inserted into it like NCIS?
There’s nothing better after a tough day at work than watching stuff go “boom!” on Burn Notice.
And I’m glad Bruce Campbell finally has a steady gig...
