The American Minute-April 19-Shot Heard Round The World-Minutemen-Patriots' Day & Gen. MacArthur

American Minute for April 19th:

Paul Revere was captured along the way, but William Dawes and Samuel Prescott continued the midnight ride from Boston's Old North Church to warn the inhabitants of Concord that British troops were coming to seize their guns.

In early dawn, APRIL 19, 1775, American "Minutemen," as poet Emerson wrote, fired the "shot heard round the world" by confronting the British on Lexington Green and at Concord's Old North Bridge.

The conflict began that in eight years would end in independence.

New England celebrates this as "Patriots' Day."

Also on APRIL 19, in the year 1951, General Douglas MacArthur retired from 48 years of patriotic service.

The most decorated soldier in U.S. history, MacArthur served in France in WWI, was Superintendent of West Point and the youngest Army Chief of Staff.

General Douglas MacArthur was Supreme Allied Commander in the Pacific in WWII and received Japan's surrender.

He commanded UN forces against North Korea, but was dismissed by President Truman for not fighting a limited war.

Douglas MacArthur said: "Like the old soldier of that ballad, I now close my military career and just fade away, an old soldier who has tried to do his duty as God gave him the light to see that duty."

“As wierd as this sounds, I beileve such “evil” leaders as FDR, and Obama, and even bloody tyrants such as Mugabe, and Mao, and Stalin (all of whom I have loathed) - are indeed God’s servants!”

Tools, kind of like useful idiots. Yes. We are paying the wages of sin — people forget this is a world of thorns and sweat and the agnoies of child birth: “Thou shalt surely DIE.”

The best news is that it’s temporary. But if people think their foolish decisions don’t have hideous consequences, the history of this blessed nation proves them wrong.

Plenty true.

Have thought a lot about such facts.

God will work His will regardless.

I try to be very cautious how I speak of such things.

Our finite perspective is limited.

God is good all the time. All the time, God is true.

God once tricked a wayward king and his false prophets with a “lying spirit” into making a foolish alliance that led to a catostrophic defeat. Useful idiots.

Yes.

I know.

And, I’ve sometimes felt . . . snookered . . . as well.

Nevertheless,

God is utterly good all the time.

All the time, God is utterly good.

With current illegal “administration” and brass in place and LTC Lakin’s refusal, I can vision the same treatment of the Tea Party if they come toooo “close” to the White House!!!

I'm not trying to be controversial, but it is just an assumption that the best officers would have been in military prison???

Someone else with same qualities would probably have stepped up to the plate breaded from the academies!!!

The Waco massacre was also a "follow" orders action.

Great generals don’t fall out of trees. They had to follow orders. If they refused, we would have had a serious leadership vacuum.

That’s a serious point. Well thought through. Back then, the government had never been hyjacked by a tyrant. The first one was FDR, and even he wasn’t that bad. This current tyrant doesn’t enjoy a fraction of the trust that the military held for presidents back then.
