I didn’t mean to be dismissive about Bill. I know that bonds are formed with all types of pets, and the loss is difficult, especially after so many years.
We had to put our little dog to sleep when she was about 15 yrs. old, so I know the sadness you and your family must be feeling at losing Bill, and my heart goes out to you.

I held a baby alligator at an alligator farm and petting zoo when I was a child. I remember how cute it was, but seeing the adults kept me from wanting to bring it home. Ha.

I guess you must have gotten your croc when he was a baby. I was wondering how difficult it was to adjust to and accommodate the changes as he grew, and did he enjoy being petted, etc.

Oh, I didn’t take that as being dismissive at all and thank you for the condolences. When we first got Bill, he was indeed a baby. We started him off in a kiddie pool for the first few years and then I had to build him his own temperature controlled room as he grew larger. In total, I built three rooms (in two different houses) during his lifetime. The last room was a 12’x10’ room with a 500 gallon pool which I still have running. We only handled him out of necessity, for example to clean or work on his room and when we moved.
He seemed to enjoy human interaction but did not like being handled.
