Jamese777 makes a valid point about Obama’s COLB (aka, Short Form BC) allowing him to get a passport.

In 1994 I applied for a USA passport.

The State Department would not accept a xerox of my own copy of my Long Form BC.

So, I contacted the Birth Records Department in Illinois.

Incredibly, Illinois sent me a COLB that had substantially less information on it than the Hawaii COLB.

I couldn't believe my Illinois COLB would be accepted.

But, four weeks later my USA passport arrived.

I think it's a mistake to argue legal points with jamese777.

He has the mind of a skilled defense attorney.

He rarely argues what is ethical, just what is legal or not legal.

It is time for Conservatives to adapt.

We need to demand “Full Disclosure” of every document pertaining to Obama’s life.

And, just as important, we need to demand “Full Disclosure” from our own presidential candidates.

There is no plausible defense against “Full Disclosure.”

If a candidate resists, then a thousand signs will greet him at every stop - “What Are You Hiding!”

I could have sworn that conservatives have been demanding Obama’s documents since he was first nominated by the Democrats.
Conservatives also need to be mindful of the possiblity of a Clinton-like “document drop” by Obama at a time when it will work the best to discredit conservatives and make Obama look like the victim of harassment.
You appear to me to be a bit politically naive. “Demanding full disclosure” from candidates is pointless. It is responsibility of the political opposition to any candidate to uncover that which is hidden. Expecting any candidate to reveal information that would make them look bad is just plain silly.
Did you really expect Bill Clinton or Mark Sanford to hold press conferences and announce that they had mistresses prior to the uncovering of that information by third parties?
Obama has every right to keep his personal information private and conservatives have every right to dig out that private information and expose it when they find it. Becoming President does not require relinquishing personal privacy rights.
If a candidate or an elected official isn’t forthcoming enough, you have the right to vote against them.

I don’t know all it entails, but I’m sure the registration numbers were verified. I think the point is that it has to be a verified, official copy, of the information on file - and just like photocopies don’t suffice, neither would a scanned digital copy of one...

BTW: Did you know that in IL you can still get a long-form certificate. I don’t know if you can request it at the court-house VS office, but I do know you can request a long-form online. Got a copy of my (Amended due to adoption) long-form just a year ago. Granted, this was amended as I said to include my adoptive parents as my birth parents — it still had my height, weight, hospital, Doctor’s name (printed not signed on the amended form). I was adopted as an infant in 1972, and the adoption was finalized in April of 1973. BTW: There is no indication on my long form (that I’m aware of) that signify that my record was ever amended... I’ll have to pull it out again, but I don’t think there is ANYTHING on it that indicates an amended certificate.
