ATLANTIC CITY, N.J., April 16 (UPI) -- Officials with a New Jersey high school said students received a cheese sandwich menu for two days as punishment for a food fight.
School superintendent Fredrick Nickles said cafeteria workers at Atlantic City High School prepared and served a cheese sandwich-only menu Wednesday and Thursday for the lunch period involved in Tuesday's food fight, which students coordinated via cell phone, The Press of Atlantic City reported Friday.
Nickles said the district has a policy of supplying only the basic meal requirements following an incident of food throwing. He said the policy has been effective in previous years.
Officials said the lunch menu returned to normal Friday.
