Federal air marshals subdued a man who authorities say attempted to "light his shoes on fire" on a United flight from Washington Reagan to Denver Wednesday night, federal law enforcement officials told ABC News. Authorities say an explosive team is on the way to the airport, and that while the presence of explosives has not yet been confirmed, they believe it was an attempted "shoe bomb." The suspect was identified by authorities as a diplomat in the Qatar embassy in Washington, Mohammed al Modadi. The FBI said the man had full diplomat immunity as the 3rd secretary and vice-consul.

Boy, I sure hope no one refers to him as an “Islamic extremist!!” What am I thinking, it was probably some
radical right-wing nut case — it is OK to call them by that name; Hussein Obama has no problem with them being called
by that name.

He has diplomatic immunity.
To: justlurking
I believe Qatar if waives the diplomatic immunity he can be prosecuted.

If the guy has ‘full diplomatic immunity’ is he immune from prosecution if tries to blow up a plane? I think not, but maybe he thought so.

It gets better. He a diplomat in the Qatar embassy in DC, with full immunity. Heh... oh yah? Hadn't heard ~that~ yet. That immunity bidness only goes so far, though. I forget but there are some exceptions. I'm thinking this is one of them.

Good point. What is it we are calling acts of terror from people who happen to be muslims?
Was this an “indiscretions from those whom we don’t understand?”
Or is it “an intolerable act against an unjust society?”

That’s probably true. Qatar could pull his immunity, and they probably would in a case like this.

This gives us more reason to just kill them on the spot. Kind of like Obama declared against a US citizen from that peaceful religion of Islam. We should treat all FOREIGN terrorists the same way he calls for that American Imam to be treated (wanted dead or alive without a trial).

I guess since the underwear thing didn't work, the Jihadis are back to lighting their sneakers, which didn't work either.
What's next?
Oh, that's right... HMS Secretary Janet Napolitano saying this was an 'isolated incident' and the 'system worked the way it should' in 3...2...1...

And I bet he was allowed to board the plane without being inspected. We should demand all passengers get the same inspection or they can charter a private plane.
