My screen name says that I am stunningly uncreative.
I had registered prior to 1999 (with an equally unimaginative handle) but somehow lost my password and wanted to post, but if I had known I would still be around here almost 11 years later, I would have put a little more effort into my FR persona...and since I have been here so long, I don’t want to lose my ‘gravitas’ and become a noobie under a snarkier label.

Oddly enough, I don’t go (and never have gone) by lainie in real life. Elaine was just taken.

Actually, yes. I signed up for my husband (a Purdue grad) thinking he would enjoy the political back and forth and the humor. As it turned out, he didn’t care to participate, so I occasionally chime in on some topic.
Since the screen name is gender specific, my comments sometimes sound a little off, and require that I identify myself as female. I don’t “talk” much so I haven’t signed up under my own name.
Been here since the days of Clinton/talkofimpeachment/hisleavingoffie; so I was Holding my Breath in anticipation. Never wanted to change it since my date of registration would change.
Yeah, Quicks is how I say it, too.

Well..I hesitate to say. Because, my name is a screening device for me. People who “get it”... let me know quickly and subtly by asking if I’ve “seen any rabbits”, or “know the way to the cave”... I immediately know... I LIKE THESE PEOPLE! ;-)
My name is a somewhat obscure reference to a character from Monty Python and the Holy Grail (One of my fave movies). There’s a scene where Arthur and his crew are looking for a cave.... and they ask directions from “Tim, the Enchanter”.
When they ask his name, he replies QUITE dramatically by throwing a few exploding fireballs and saying, “There are Some who Call Me, Tim??”
You have to be a pretty solid Python fan to “get it” on first reading. Only whacked out people... like me! :-)
As for why I chose it? It was as screen name I was using for a couple of other web sites back in 1998. Figured it was best to stay with the same name.
Now, I mostly use “MasterBevo”... (Figure THAT one out!).
But... I like my old name, too.
