Actually, GWB “resurrected” that song for me!
Election night, 2000. Midnight. Last campaign stop at a huge hangar somewhere in Texas. Thousands inside waiting for GWB.
The enormous doors part and his plane actually taxis right into the hangar. It was electric!
Then I noticed Fleetwood Mac (!) blaring from the rafters. What the heck?! That’s Clinton/Gore’s song.
Dubya emerges from the plane. Crowd goes wild. Fleetwood Mac plays on....and then...the sound of needle scratching across vinyl. Really loud screeching.
A brief pause. And then-—volume turned up even more, The Who comes blasting out: “Won’t Get Fooled Again”. Everyone went even wilder!
It was awesome.
