BWAHAHAHAHA!

LOL...I know, I know.

I told her that we would be rationing power and using only a certain amount of things at a time.

Her response to that was....get a bigger generator...

Hell, she's paying for it, I just get to do the leg work.

That is funny...

yeah, don’t plan on running your AC from your generator or battery bank.

If it comes to that kind of situation,
you’ll be lucky to run your fridge, freezer, and a few lights.

That’s what I thought too. May need to lower expectations a bit...

I was thinking the same thing, bwahahaha. You can put up a very large windmill with back up batteries. You’d be talking about something well over $45,000+. Don’t think anything else would come close. You could get a very good generator, that would run a few lights and the fridge. Or several generators and several hundred gallons of diesel. Seeing you live in a state with a far amount of sun. You can also put up a bunch of solar panels. Or a combo of all those things.

Mifflin seems to be one of the few here that has a clear picture of just where his wife fits into his life. “Now, if I am not home, my wife has no problem during electric power shutoffs.” She's your best friend so for Pete's sake, take care of her properly.

Buy the best, a Kohler, get a service contract and you're in business. Now if there's a possibility that you may be moving in the next 10 years, get a portable rig that you can slip the tires on and tow it on up the road to the new house.

The rest of you guys, how much do you have tied up in guns, boats, private aircraft or whatever your hobby is? I'll bet $10K is on the short side. Making life as easy as possible for my Mrs. has always been a major priority with me and it sure has paid off. Think about it.
