Just wait until many of the iPad owners try to open an email that has an attachment that's supported by Flash and they can't open it. I like my iPhone but no Flash is a big downside for me.

Accessing Oswald Chambers online daily (Thank you!) is "avoiding reality"?
Most of the folks you're addressing here are adults who use technology in many ways and for diverse reasons; please treat us as such...

You were saying ...
Yeah Apple shut down their last US-based manufacturing facility about a decade ago. Everything is now made in China.
Ummm..., if you're talking about Foxconn and Inventec, I don't call Taiwan, a place in China, doncha know... LOL ... Perhaps you've already caved to China's propaganda eh? :-)

You were saying ...
My family have three Dell laptops and two desktops.
You certainly have my heart-felt condolences ... :-)
I have absolutely no use for the device. I cannot honestly find any marketable need for it either.
Yes..., I remember all those others who couldn't find any need for the iPhone either ... LOL ...

FACT: There are many apple stores that aren’t in the big cities and there were no lines. In fact drudge had a link to the story.
In fact a quick look at apple store locator and you’ll see there many that aren’t in BIG cities.

See post 106 for the type of ahole that gives apple users a bad name and why people attack apple zealots as idiots.
You’re getting caught in the cross fire.

Show me one real capitalist that thinks consumers shouldnt bargain for a better price?
Ummmm..., we're in the United States, not Mexico ... LOL ...
I know that works in Mexico, but the last time I was in Best Buy and tried that, they kicked me out of the store ... :-)

Kindle is the Wang word processor of our era. Sooner or later, folks will wake up and realize they could have a whole computer for the price of a one-trick toy.

Why would a non-Apple fan be on this thread ... unless to disrupt. I never go on Microsoft threads for that reason.
But somehow, Mac-Haters end up here.

Some of us are just technophiles, and love discussing computer and technological advances, and Apple is responsible for a significant number of technical innovations. I don't think the iPad is one of them, but love having an honest discussion about whether the device will catch on. But anytime the discussion is about an Apple product the there's a group that shows up to establish a categorical defense about the product simply because it's Apple.

We scientists call that a
"bigger hammer test" as in,
"hand me a bigger hammer, and it will break".
BTW, science (as opposed to vendetta) requires controls for validity. Where are the competing netbooks, etc., that are being submitted to identical treatment?

To echo you, that is an honest response.
Furthermore, I think iPad is a gamble. It will pay off ... or not. I’m probably going to wait for the second generation.

I don’t like kindle but I have to admit the screen was cool as heck. I was amazed...it really looks like regular print in a book. If you read a ton of books it *may* be a value to you, but then again it’s still cheaper to buy the book and forgo the kindle.

For any hand held device dropping on carpet and spilling water/coffee on it are valid. I didn’t think running it under the sink was.
I’ve dropped my 3rd gen ipod onto concrete from over 20 feet at work, I thought for sure it was done, but it lived!
