The Internet has made April Fools' infinitely more amusing -- and if there's one company that loves to get in on the hijinks, it's Google.
Google's April Fools' Day jokes have become the stuff of legend. Sometimes the gags are good enough to trick you; other times, they're just good for a chuckle.
Here are five of my personal favorites.

A “practical joker” deserves applause for his wit according to its quality.
Bastinado is about right. For exceptional wit one might grant keelhauling.
But staking him out on an anthill should be reserved for the very wittiest.

Check out Google Maps Street View - in red/green 3D!
My brother-in-law was on his bicycle and hit by a car. He survived the broken leg, contused lung and broken ribs but landed on a cactus growing on an ant hill. It was the latter that just about did him in.
Topeka is very funny. They’re liberals but they’re funny.
Wow, I missed the 3-dimension google maps. Is it only for today?
In Google Voice today you have the option for standard voicemail.
Somehow I think it is - for good reason.
What’s the good reason?
Very funny. I loved all of their April Fool’s jokes.
I almost missed it too. One of the talk show hosts on local radio mentioned google and told the Topeka story. So funny.
What’s the story on google voicemail?
‘Topeka’ is the google wave of april fools jokes. Complete and utter garbage.
I made caramel covered apples one year and took them to work. One lone victim got the onion. The rest of us rolled on the floor laughing so hard.
What’s today?
Awright, it’s 11:10pm and my better half is wondering why I’m not in bed, so ...
Google Street View DOES have a red/blue 3D option, starting today. It does actually do something, but has more to do with an easy hack based on knowing what it’s mostly looking at: below the horizon can have a cheap 3D effect added, along with other parts of the picture easy to tweak into looking 3D without knowing anything about the actual image. Ergo, it makes for a nifty April Fool’s joke: gives you a “holy crap they just added 3D!” feeling before realizing it’s a cheap trick they’ll turn off April 2nd.
It's lame.
As a very persuadable little boy my brother got me to plastic-wrap the toilet in the master bedroom on 4/1. Thirty-some years later they still talk about it. Even my wife now harasses me about it.
Oh, and I DID get out the 3D glasses and tried it. Does work!
I read that one town in PA had a whole thing going today about “SAVE THE MINCE.” It was complete with people at a corner holding up signs. One woman told her daughter it was just a joke, but her young daughter was very upset about the poor little minces and said, “Oh, what do you think they put in mince pies?
