The Helen Thomas pictures thrown into so many threads are tiresome

Inspired by an interesting thread regarding an actor who refused to do love scenes with an attractive female actress. Inevitably somebody thinks its "funny" to throw in a picture of Helen Thomas. This extremely tiresome "joke" has been run into the ground.
Looking it up she was born in 1920. So every day someone feels the need to point how that a 90 year old woman isn't a babe. And we have to shout that out a dozen times a day in threads that have no relation whatsoever to the Washington Press Corps. Aren't we so clever.
It's nothing clever, it's nothing witty, it's nothing civil. It's just a low cheap shot. In theory aren't we supposed to be better then this. Can't we give it a rest, or at the very least stop with the off-topic use of the pictures.

And of course by posting this you encourge the posting of more.
Funny how that works.

Lighten up, Francis.
Its a joke. A tired joke ... but a joke nonetheless. If you don't like it, skip it. Starting a whole conversation about it seems counterproductive.

Mamie Eisenhower samples a piece of birthday cake at a joint birthday celebration given in her honor on Oct. 19, 1959 by the Women's National Press Club. The luncheon marked the 40th anniversary of the club, and prematurely celebrated Mrs. Eisenhower's 63rd birthday which fell on Nov. 14. At left is Helen Thomas of United Press International, who was the club's president. (UPI Photo)
