New to Latte Vanity

Vanity Day.

I have never been a coffer drinker. To much acid. Makes me feel shakey.

This last year I was nudged to try a Latte.

I loved it.

So I was buying one a month as an on the road cold rainy day treat.

Dutch Bros.

Well I have had 3 this week now. Too spendy and not able to get out but way to spendy

I work out of the home and do not have money or time to fuss with an espresso maker.

If I bought beans/grind/milk/coconutsyrup and a coffee maker (2-4cup max) to make coffee at home will I notice a huge diff not being a coffee/Latte coniseur.

I dont want to waste money so looking for an expensive coffee maker.

It would still seem more economical than Dutch Bros more than twice a week.

I have contemplated if this is just a fad I am going through.

So far no stomach ache and no shaky feeling with the Dutch Bros Quad Coconut Latte.

Would Coffee with flavor effect someone different in the acid/shaky mode.

I am guessing not if I keep it down to a 1-2 cup maker.

Also need easy/quick plug in and use as I dont have time or want to program/play with one more electronic device in my life. Too busy.

Any suggestion coffee or latte makers.

I have done some research on cheap espresso makers with milk steamers but seems it still to much time in the kitchen to fool around with the darn thing.

I have a milk frother a friend gave me. It looks like a small stainless steel pitcher with a lid - you put the milk in there (I heat in on top of my stove) & then you pump it up and down by a knob on top of the lid. It froths the milk great! I just pour it on top of regular coffee & sprinkle a little cinnamon on top. If you use skim milk - it’s not bad, calorie-wise at all. It feels like a special treat.

I don’t know the name of it, but if you did a search on pump milk frothers you could find them on the Internet, they are not very expensive at all. I’m sure you could find a low-acid coffee too.

I did not know there was such a think as a low acid coffee.

Prior to this year it has probably been 20 years since I have tried drinking coffee or this new to me espresso coconut latte.

I know bean choice is important too.

Find yourself a local coffee shop that sells a variety of coffees by the bag. Ignore the "OBAMA IS GOD" posters and the toothless hippies. Talk with the owner. Try a variety of beans, figure out what you like.

Try a Cafe au Lait (Coffeemilk). The original coffee milk drink. Brew a pot of french roast. Scald, (not boil) an equal amount of whole milk and mix and serve. Makes lots, good for company.

I get your drift.

I pick up beans for KVs friend when I go to the all day trip to get to Costco.

I was udderly shocked at the organic GO GREEN choices.

Yet in all the print on the package could not find a description of the flavor of the bean.

CAPRESSO IS NOT A WONDERFUL AMERICAN COMPANY TO DO BUSINESS WITH!!!

Sorry for hollering but I have had the experience of trying to deal with them and they are AWFUL

I bought two burr grinders from them. One worked okay (not as good as the Cuisinart) and the other malfunctioned. It didn't grind evenly which is what you want with a burr grinder. The grinders were off-set so you got big chunks and fine grind.

I emailed them and called them immediately because they claimed they had a one year warrantee. I mailed them the machine, as they asked, and they changed their minds. They said I had given them the wrong model number so I sent them copies of my email. Then they said that was the one model they didn't warrantee so I sent them copies of their warrantee. Then they said I must have bought it from Sam's Club or some such place because that was the only place it was sold. Not true.

Bottom line: Capresso sells a crappy product, they're not honest and they don't honor their warrantee.

You would add the syrup before the steamed milk. I buy our beans from this place:

Beans are such a personal choice, like fine wine and good cigars.

I happen to have an excellent roaster in my town, so I go there and have never had a bad bean. ;)

Use a Dutched cocoa for Café mocha ...sweeten to taste.

Press pots are very inexpensive and Bodum makes the best one.

It really is an individual taste.

When the local Coffee Nazi (cf. Soup Nazi) introduced me to Ethiopian Yergacheffe and to Kona, all the fuss over strangely named coffee beans and varieties of coffee roasting stopped seeming ridiculous.

I use a Tassimo. I can have a latte within 3 min. It's 5 grams of fat per latte. It uses real milk. The thing is, making them is effortless, so it's tempting to drink one after another.

And for what it’s worth, I stopped drinking lattes a long time ago. Pressed coffee has much more flavor.

I don’t make lattes at home, but I do fresh grind the beans for every pot of coffee I make. Hubby prefers a french roast; I prefer dark roasted Sumatran or Kenyan AA beans, myself...

It does make a difference in taste.

I’ve had totally the opposite experience with them.

I just replaced my well-used Capresso coffee/espresso/latte machine with a new model that has a built in grinder.

Their service department is extra ordinary ....if you ever need them [sounds like you won’t] ask for Grace. Tell her I sent you.

Did you deal with the New Jersey people?

FWIW America’s Test Kitchen rates the Capresso Cool Grind, Model 501 the best coffee grinder.

It is a special, rare treat. I'm actually glad it is not inexpensive and easily available, my coffee consumption would double.

I have nothing but good things to say about Capresso ... and I have owned just about every other brand as well, all up and down the price scale. Very nice customer service folks when I had questions. Cuisinart has probably the best warranties and customer service — they sent my DIL a brand new coffeemaker when hers malfunctioned, with one phone call and no returning the old machine. Can’t beat that.

I should have said above that I’ve never had a Capresso product fail/break. We lost a little valve thingey on the frother and when I called for one, they sent it free ...and the unit had been out of warranty for a decade!

I lost the part again, in a move, called Gracie and she sent me three! LOL

I misplaced the manual and was able to download it on line. Bingo.

My son’s Cuisinart coffee maker was replaced for free too. They seems to be great company as well. I swear by their food processor.

Did you know the Kona coffee bean is from an Arabica variety of coffee plant from Guatemala, brought in after the turn of the century?

I look for Kona blends ....those I can afford! ;)

I knew it was Arabica, but not that it was from Guatemala. Guatemalan Antigua is not bad.

Never had a Kona blend.
