DETROIT (AP) -- Federal authorities had been monitoring members of a Michigan-based Christian militia for some time but were forced to "take them down" over the weekend after learning of an imminent threat against police, the U.S. attorney leading the prosecution said Tuesday.
Barbara McQuade's comments came three days after eight members of a small group of "Christian warriors" were arrested in several Midwestern states and a day after the FBI nabbed a ninth suspect, Joshua Stone, following a standoff at a trailer in rural Michigan.

Color me cynical, but I suspect the time that had come was the launching of the PR campaign against the Tea Party by the administration.
This guy would have had an easier argument using the constitution as a defense as opposed to trying to justify actions through scriptures.

If the quotes from their website are real, they have their theology all wrong. The injunction to Christians is to accept the persecution of the anti-Christ and go willingly with their tormentors, even to death. It’s a hard teaching and these guys don’t get it (if this website is real and this isn’t the start of a Reichstag Fire). Revelation is not a call to arms against the anti-Christ. It is the story of how God, not us, will end the reign of terror and remake Heaven and Earth. That’s a bit above our pay-grade.

These guys are Christian like Obamao is, but the media is going to harp on the Christian part, doing their multicultural bit to demonize all Christians. It is especially fun for them when they can get connections like militia and rightwing in there. Pipe bombs become weapons of mass destruction, and ideological links are made to the OKC bombing, even though there aren’t any. I’m glad the feds stopped these kooks before someone got hurt. God knows Napolitano has been praying for something like this since her jackbooted, anti conservative memo got exposed.

How can 8 dirt poor farmers be a seditious threat to the government of the USA when we have a dozen or more Muslim para military trianing camps around the country who send their members to Pakistan and Yemen for training (tourists intone the FBI)?

Not from either of the last four administrations. They were very concerned that terrorist events that actually happened would make people think badly of Muslims.
Had a “takedown” of 9 Muslim men been coordinated with a very public and aggressive campaign by the Administration to discredit American Muslims, then my cynicism hat would start going on for that one too. I don’t think we need to worry about seeing that campaign anytime soon.
But there is a concerted campaign by the Administration (that amped up greatly as soon as the Health Care bill passed) to discredit American Christians and Tea Partiers. The timing of this move fits right in. Maybe it’s a coincidence. And it may be. But my cynical hat says it may not be.
Let me ask you a question. Do you think the acts required by the cynical hypothesis are beyond this administration?

There are groups of Muslims, training right here in the US for that very purpose, right now. When was the last time you heard of one of their camps being “taken down”... and when have you ever, ever heard so much liberal media howling over the arrest of ANY jihadist?

Looks like it was a campiagn organized event that fizzled to me.
What would be easier to infiltrate, a group of working class white guys who like guns or a very secretive group that is exclusively muslim, that live in compounds, recruit straight from prison, and run everyone off that they don’t know?
Now, almost certainly Jamaat al Fuqra is on the radar, but considering the obvious political fallout, when they get taken off, it will be done absolutely properly with no missteps.
If I were a Jamaat al Fuqra member, I wouldn’t fear LE as much as I would fear the American people.
