Things could go bad like Iran sinking boats in the Strait of Hormuz and oils goes up to 200 dollars a barrel. A severe storm sweeps across the Country bringing us to our knees. The Government has to implement Martial Law. The more we can take care of ourselves the less we need outside help.

In my opinion, education cannot not be over done and at times all of us have questions that someone else can answer.
Good luck with this thread, for the Freepers want this information and some of us know that we all need it and now is the right time.
Katadyn water filter (good for 13000 gallons), food tablets (compact, high-calorie, tasty with a full vitamin load) for one man-years worth of eating, tent and camping gear all in a bugout backpack. Glock model 22 with conceal holster and many mags. Destination: Friends farm well outside of Atlanta, 20 hours walking distance with pack. In shape and capable of making the trip. Girlfriend similarly equipped and similarly in shape.
Staged at friends farm: More ammo, rifle, ammo for that, Foxfire series of books. Lighting consists of LED lightsources and lots of longlife batteries.
I read the article about surviving societal collapse in Argentina. It disabused me of Rambo-esque myths and gave me good ideas on how to actually make it.
Ping to Ms. Cookie.
Preparedness/Survival ping!
Email me to be added to the list.
I've had those books in my collection since I was in my 20's. Where in the world did you find your copies? They've been out of print for at least 20 years.
Reprints.
I got 'em primarily out of a love of history and had no idea they'd come in handy as 'prepper' material.
Here's another one you might want to dig up:
Nuclear War Survival Skills. While obviously written during the Cold War there are lots of good general purpose tips in there.
That link's a PDF file so you can download it yourself.
I hope you find it useful.

No, you have a valid question. You may want to go on the state of Louisiana website - they may have hurricane preparation on there. Every year we start preparing for our hurricane season, batteries, propane, food, first aid kits, bottled water, matches, and lots of other stuff to help us in case of emergency. Start with the basic survival stuff and work from there. Our utility companies usually send a check list out. Hope this helped a little.
An excellent resource.
whats the e mail?
Thank you for that!!
Thanks!!
I’ve added you to the ping list.
